TheUltimateWinner Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 Hello all! Just thought i'd bring to attention a charity auction from our very own Kasper Schmeichel, Which I believe goes to an amazing cause. From his website: Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and his girlfriend Stine Gyldenbrand have launched the project “Help a mother in Africa” with the purpose of creating awareness of maternal mortality in Africa and to raise funds to help reduce it.Each day approx. 1,000 women die in Africa in connection with pregnancy or child birth. That is the equivalent of 365,000 deaths a year. This is the same as if approx. four, fully filled jumbo jets would crash every day. South of the Sahara, 1 in 30 women die during pregnancy and in Ethiopia only 6% of women give birth with professional help. Kasper and Stine’s “Help a mother in Africa” project raises money for the organisation Maternity Worldwide which has the crown princess Mary of Denmark as their patron. Maternity Worldwide’s purpose is to save women’s and children’s lives in connection with pregnancy and child birth. With training and supervision, Maternity Worldwide supports three hospitals and four health clinics, enabling them to offer safe child births. Kasper Schmeichel and Stine Gyldenbrand You can visit the auction here: http://www.helpamotherinafrica.com/index.php/auction He is auctioning off many things including: Kaspers Jersey against Madrid, Joe Hart's signed gloves, Shay Given's signed gloves, Match worn Wojciech Szczesny shirt, Signed LCFC shirt and many more!
acooling08 Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 It's always bitter sweet for me when a celebrity does something like this for charity. On the plus side, it's obviously a nice gesture to raise money for a worthy cause. But on the other hand, for someone who has earned at least 10k a week for 3 or 4 years, auctioning those items for a few thousand pounds doesn't seem like much compared to what they could give if they really really cared.
Bayfox Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 i have to agree why not just donate 10% of your wages or set up a foundation like david james or craig bellamy and why sell a shirt for a few hundred quid when you could give 5k and keep it.

For all we know he could be donating a lot of his money anyway. Judge ye not.
Larry_LCFC Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Im sure he will be donating his own money too. Doing auctions not only raises awareness and gets lots of other people involved, but it also gives people the chance to get their hands on some cool stuff. Win Win situation!

To make this comment, you must have inside knowledge of what he has or hasn't already given to charity?
foxesfan1989 Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Donating things like this are a sign of true commitment. These items probably mean a lot to him, and the fact he has put a charity ahead of personal sentiment is a big commitment. Plus we have no idea how much of his wages he donates! Don't be so cynical about what is clearly a good deed.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 7 May 2012 Author Posted 7 May 2012 Bloody hell, Who let scrooge loose on this forum. This is Kasper & His girlfriends charity, They would of had to pump alot of money into it. I know its a tough financial climate at the moment, But give generously! At least just donate a tiny bit of money: http://www.helpamotherinafrica.com/index.php/component/content/article/14-sample-data-articles/75-stot-os
ta-fc Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Surely the auction is aimed at raising awareness not purely for the cash it Would generate????
