This is just my opinion, but there is far too much money in football now. Now it has been proved that money can effectively buy you the PL, where does it stop?

More money will be splashed on players, wages will soar. And for us, the supporters that only means one thing, the cost for us goes up.

Something really needs to be done about it, but I fear it never will as long as the money keeps rolling into the suits and the mentality of the typical English supporter stays the same.

The only way I can see something changing is when a big team has their funds pulled out. We've seen it happen to smaller clubs but no-one cares.

Wonder what everyone else's thoughts are?

What do you mean "now"?

Blackburn spent a lot to win it in 1995, Chelsea spent a lot to win it, Man United have spent plenty too.

It always has been money dominated since SKY have taken over nothing new, is it wrong and lacking competition?, no you cannot say that, the championship and the prem are the two most competitive leagues.

Agreed.

This thread isn't about money, it's about Xenophobia. People don't mind money being pumped in, as long as it's English money.

I think today is the day when winning the premier league has officially been given a price, and I find that very sad and concerning.

Did you say the same when Blackburn did it?

I dislike Man City, prefer Utd, and hate the money they've spent but its not the only time it has happened and they're not the only team to do it. It really isn't the end of the world.

Believe it or not it isn't. If you read my first statement my concern is the effect it will have on supporters...

Its very much in the hands of the fans if you ask me. They buy the tickets, merchandise, tv subscriptions etc. I believe it will come crashing down one day but the ordinary people supplying the money are to blame.

Congratulations to Man City. Yes they have spent an insane amount of money but thats just the going rate for the top players, set by the fans (see above).

It all when mercenary when Sky forced the creation of the PL against the wishes of the FA. The clubs that were then in the old 1st division threaten to break away if the FA didn't agree so them and Sky are the ones to blame.

This debate is 20 years too late.

Brian Clough said the Premier League, and the money, would ruin football. Yet again, he was correct.

Yes there is too much money in the game, but as DavieG states, the debate is too late.

This, today is the one if not the best last days in the history of the EPL .
