Fox92 Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Could have been dangerous though, because anything could have got through.
Captain... Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Could have been dangerous though, because anything could have got through. I guess the risk was that it wasn't an accident and somebody had unplugged it to allow someone to get something through, although if that was the case they probably should have plugged it back in so as not to arouse suspicion. All the ones in the UK have a green light and a red light on them, so you must be pretty lax not to notice, although saying that I, and a few others I know, have accidentally smuggled things on planes, like lighters and pen knives. So I do wonder how secure these things are.
Rincewind Posted 27 June 2012 Author Posted 27 June 2012 Just don't know how it wasn't noticed. The first thing you would do in that job when coming on duty is to check that it was working. There is not much else to do. Why was it unplugged anyway? I hate to think what the less efficient airports are like. I would have thought JFK was one of the largest and busiest airports in the world.
glenny_fox Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Only in America could you have a high tech piece of equipment like that... Then forget to plug the thing in.

Is slightly scary knowing how easy things can get through, I mean, two aircraft's had to be pulled from the runway. I imagine it's even worse in America because of previous attacks as well.

Captain... Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 I'm convinced half of them don't work, I've wandered through 4-5 times with my belt on. Whereas I get beeped at despite not having anything metallic on me, I think they just like the look of me and fancy a quick frottage.

Jackirius Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 I get searched everytime because I have a titanium plate in my head, and it's always by the campest lard arse who without fail will have a grope. Really do need to get a doctors note about it before I go travelling.

Rincewind Posted 27 June 2012 Author Posted 27 June 2012 I doubt he will be employed by the security team any more. He must have passed all the vetting. Could easily have been a Mike Paul Hardin

Could easily have been a Mike Paul Hardin Oh i agree with you.... But Muslims working for airports and even as translators for the FBI have been found to be ' working for the other side' So this is probably why they got a bit excited over it all. Poor Fella. Stupid mistake but a mistake all the same.
Danno Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Just wondering, are different airports supposed to bleep for different things? Every time I go to a Spanish airport it goes off for my braces but nowhere else..

Every time I go to a Spanish airport it goes off for my braces but nowhere else.. Obviously you are attractive to Spanish men who fancy a quick squeeze, they can set it off whenever they want.
