Captain... Posted 3 August 2012 Posted 3 August 2012 I'd have thought cricket was much more of a 'world sport' than baseball. The issue would come with hosting the sport, Rio 2016 for example wouldn't be a great place to start. If it were going to be introduced, the IOC missed a huge opportunity with London 2012 with our abundance of Test cricket grounds. Baseball could definitely find a home at the 2020 Olympics however, Tokyo is one of the candidate cities. Good point there, but if it did become an Olympic sport they would have to purpose build one, like we have purpose built lots of stadia. You are right though if you want to demonstrate it London would have been the best place. I really do not find Baseball an enjoyable sport to watch, like basketball, you really need to know the intricacies of the foul laws to understand what is going on, I hope it doesn't become an Olympic event.
Tielemans63 Posted 3 August 2012 Posted 3 August 2012 In: Dodgeball, Darts (guaranteed medals), Tug of War (used to be an Olympic sport & surely a great chance of a British medal?) Out: Tennis & footy
Guest shearfox Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 In: Snooker, Futsal Out: Football (men), Golf
Webbo Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 OUT; Women's boxing. It might be sexist but I don't think it's right.
Tielemans63 Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 BMX! I hadn't realise until today that it's an Olympic event! Bit of a joke as far as I'm concerned. If they'd held it at the BMX track in Western Park (the one next to the Eco House) I might feel differently.
Guest MattP Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 OUT; Women's boxing. It might be sexist but I don't think it's right. I went to a show in Coalville a coupld of years back and before the main event they brought out two birds for a match, have to say it was intriguing. Have a watch of the Mathis V Holm KO a few months ago, the quality is appalling for World Title level but it does have a strange sense of appeal.
goose2010 Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 I can see UFC being added to the rio one, massive out in brazil at the minute.
Father Ted Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 I'd definitely get rid of football but replace it with 5-a-side or futsal or beach football. Get rid of tennis and horse riding events. Bring in kerbie!
AyewJoking Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 Dodge Ball would be an interesting inclusion. (I'm serious)
