marko Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 I think that was the worst piece of Cricket captaincy I have ever seen. I don't know! Ponting bowling first at Edgbaston in '05 is my personal favourite, ey Soccerro

Knightonian Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 I don't know! Ponting bowling first at Edgbaston in '05 is my personal favourite, ey Soccerro Good point. It also reminded me of Ponting bowling a part-time spinner against Anderson and Panesar in Cardiff in 2009.

Knightonian Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 I reckon he should've bowled underarm I wonder what Roo will make of that.... In honesty though, I just cannot understand why with one over to go, you would bowl a spinner (who has conceded 23 from two overs) against two guys who are smashing spin all over the place. I can understand trying to tempt Gayle to play a bad shot early on with spin and get him out, but with an over to go surely Gayle's wicket is no longer important, containing him is.
ScouseFox Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Sri Lanka have got this in the bag. Windies 14-2 from almost 6 overs. Gayle gone for 3 from 16 balls!
purpleronnie Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Windies recovered to post a reasonable score.
purpleronnie Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 This really odd...looks like the threat of the rain has made the sri lanka players panic.

Corky Posted 7 October 2012 Author Posted 7 October 2012 Congratulations to the West Indies, beating Sri Lanka in their own tournament is a tremendous result. Worthy champions.
Voll Blau Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 West Indies can destroy anyone on their day but sadly there's no way they'll have the consistency to carry it through a whole tournament. Shame really as I've got a soft spot for them, love seeing them do well. Sadly I see India winning it. Some expert I am. Wish I was down the St Lawrence Gap in Barbados right now. That could be a serious night!
