Guest MattP Posted 21 September 2012 Posted 21 September 2012 Have to feel a bit sorry for them now, they have never seen bowling of this pace before.
Guest MattP Posted 21 September 2012 Posted 21 September 2012 This really is showing how atrocious the Indian bowling attack is.
Corky Posted 21 September 2012 Author Posted 21 September 2012 Excellent professionalism from England, in the type of match we've struggled in previously (Holland, Ireland). Next up is India and we should go in very confident.
theessexfox Posted 22 September 2012 Posted 22 September 2012 Just disappointed they didn't get lowest ever T20 score - looked like they weren't going to pass 30 at one point.
Corky Posted 22 September 2012 Author Posted 22 September 2012 Second best thing in cricket (after England winning) is the Aussies getting smacked around the park. Chris Gayle with 54 from 33 balls.
Corky Posted 22 September 2012 Author Posted 22 September 2012 Australia win on Duckworth-Lewis. They are through, winner of West Indies v Ireland will join them. South Africa won a 7-over game against Sri Lanka.
Guest MattP Posted 22 September 2012 Posted 22 September 2012 Amazed at the pitches so far, loads of bounce. Favouring us, Aussies and South Africa at the minute.
Corky Posted 24 September 2012 Author Posted 24 September 2012 I hope that is England's awful match of the tournament done and out of the way now. Couldn't believe the score on my way back to the station yesterday.
purpleronnie Posted 24 September 2012 Posted 24 September 2012 I can't see us getting out of that either. So that means we'll win it. Yey!
Knightonian Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Not excuses at all mate, just a genuine observation that it appears we never pick our best side/squad for T20 and never have done. Also if you ask the regulars in the Test Cricket thread (Matt P, Marko, Corky, Scouse Fox and Alexkokopops) they will tell you i rate test cricket higher than any of the other forms of the game. That being said i do hope my assumptions are wrong and we go on and win it. A player to watch will be Glenn Maxwell a local Melbournian who is keeping Hussey out of the side. No worries mate. Test Cricket is totally the the best form of Cricket. I think I only like 20 Twenty because Leicestershire have been the top side in the last 10 years. you've won the Cricket world cup - what 4 or 5 times? I totally would only want an Ashes victory in that time....
Samu Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Can someone please explain why all the teams who finished 2nd in the group stages are playing each other in the Super Eights. England seem to be playing Windies, NZ and Sri Lanka which sounds like a much nicer group than South Africa, Australia, Pakistan and India. Surely this makes no sense at all and means it was actually an advantage to finish 2nd in the group. Am I just being stupid or am I missing something?

Was done on some bizarre seeding system before the tournament. Like you say ridiculous, fantastic for us mind given our troubles against spin that wins against New Zealand and the Windies will see us through.

The rankings/seedings were done last year, so it didn`t matter where you finished in the group stages.
Samu Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Fantastic, thanks for that. How absurd is that? So we could have pretty much predicted who we would face prior to the tournament? Its funny that we all finished 2nd in the groups, it's almost like we are playing in the reserve tournament. So pleased to have avoided South Africa, India and Pakistan
Corky Posted 26 September 2012 Author Posted 26 September 2012 Pakistan were bashed around the park by Bangladesh, but whether that will prove to be a norm we'll see. Should be happy with our group, top two is very achieveable.

Though India got lucky in a very in a similar way in the actual World Cup in 2011, they two teams they couldn't beat were us and South Africa and they managed to avoid us both and get Sri Lanka and New Zealand in the semi's and final. A lot of luck in this game.
Guest MattP Posted 27 September 2012 Posted 27 September 2012 This is brilliant!!!! One of the best and most bizarre endings I've even seen to a match.
Guest MattP Posted 27 September 2012 Posted 27 September 2012 Just gone in on Sri Lanka here, would be amazed if Malinga didn't defend 13.
purpleronnie Posted 27 September 2012 Posted 27 September 2012 Malinga's action is bloody awful. It is but its effective.
Corky Posted 27 September 2012 Author Posted 27 September 2012 Gayle worries me greatly, we need him out early.
