Red Dwarf - it's back!

Wasn't as bad as I expected it to be to be honest.

I actually thought it was really good - considering.

Certainly better than any of the series 7/8 episodes.

I thought the same, i thought it was really good and certainly a pleasant surprise.

I fear some people are being far too critical, some were perhaps convinced that it was going to be shit from the off and didn't really go into it with an open mind. I was guilty of that with the specials they did (which certainly aren't as bad if you watch them again). Series 7 is and will always be the festering turd of the show.

But it is annoying me how they aren't explaining some key points. Like why is Red Dwarf there after it was destroyed at the end of season 8? Why is Rimmer a hologram again after he was rebuilt alive at the end of the last series, with the original dead Rimmer jetting off to become Ace Rimmer earlier in the show? Why do other ships, humans, civilisation, seem to exist even though it is set 3 million years into the future after Lister was in stasis? etc etc....are we supposed to consider this a completely different cannon to the first 8 series?....if so that seems a little ridiculous to me! (PS. I know about the whole mystery series 9 thing...which i really don't get at all!)

I was thinking the same thing. Also if they are back on Red Dwarf then shouldn't Holly be there?

I used to like Red Dwarf when I was at school. Saw the odd clip over the years since and didn't think much of it, but a couple of months back decided to watch them again from the start and enjoyed them. It took a few episodes to get into again but I've come to the conclusion that it's a decent watch. Out of 6 series' there were only a couple of episodes I didn't like. Rimmer is my favourite character. The Cat gets better as it goes (starts off a bit repetitive), and the other regulars all have their moments!

I'm up to series 7 at the mo so gonna try and watch the rest and then see what this new series is like.

I thought it was ok. I went off it in series 7 but this is more of a return to classic dwarf. I'm not particularly bothered about all the anomalies in it, maybe they'll be explained, maybe not, i'll just take it as it is either way
