Bluefoxtim Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Red Dwarf X starts on Dave tonight. Anybody else tuning in? I think the last series broke a few records in terms of digital channel viewing figures.
Jaspa Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Again ? Theyre all ancient now Might record a couple episodes just to see tbf
Guest Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 I'm nervously excited; could be brilliant, or it could be a huge disappointment.
I am Rod Hull Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 I'm nervously excited; could be brilliant, or it could be a huge disappointment. It`s like The Simpsons, they just can`t get the old magic back I`ll give it a try, better smeg than dead.
purpleronnie Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 I met Danny jules once, he is pretty good friends with someone I know....lovely bloke. I like red dwarf although I feel that the later series lost its appeal due to the money being pumped into it, it all looked to shiny..I much prefer the earlier episodes it had more soul.
syston_fox Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Can't wait! My only annoyance is that they've called it Red Dwarf X...... those three specials a couple of years ago cannot seriously be classed as series 9 can they?
Bluefoxtim Posted 4 October 2012 Author Posted 4 October 2012 Can't wait! My only annoyance is that they've called it Red Dwarf X...... those three specials a couple of years ago cannot seriously be classed as series 9 can they? Without sounding like a sad b*stard, in Back to Earth they discussed 'Series 9' - but we'll never see it.
fleckneymike Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 It's been terrible for years. When Grant left he took all the jokes with him. Back To Earth was just woeful. Series X however has actually received 'some' good reviews and comparisons to series 3. Queeg is still my all time favourite episode though.
syston_fox Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Queeg is still my all time favourite episode though.

acooling08 Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Have the original series all on DVD, some of them really were brilliant. The new stuff is poor though, they should have left it as it was.
fleckneymike Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 7 minutes in. They've lied to us. Shit. It's shit.
syston_fox Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Well it had it's moments but it doesn't recapture the magic of the originals.
acooling08 Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Well it had it's moments but it doesn't recapture the magic of the originals. Did anybody seriously expect it would? I'm a pretty big RD fan but am not even going to watch the new series, don't want to see them all old and balding, and worst of all not funny.
Jace Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Swedish man crashes his car, what caused the accident? (BTW it was wank!)
Mark_w Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 It wasn't that bad, not great, but it had it's moments. It's not the same, but it's good enough that I'll keep watching.
ithuriel Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Will give it a chance, series 8 got some of the magic back after a few episodes, like Krytey TV etc., so i'll give it a few episodes to see where it goes
Bluefoxtim Posted 4 October 2012 Author Posted 4 October 2012 I actually thought it was really good - considering. Certainly better than any of the series 7/8 episodes.
foxesfan1989 Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 I'm a huge Dwarf fan. Seen every episode too many times to mention. Really enjoyed tonights! Its a different show now but it has tried to get back to basics! Looking forward to the rest of the series, so glad it is back.
marty78 Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Wasn't great but no worse than I expected. To be honest even when I occasionally catch an old episode it hasn't aged very well.
fleckneymike Posted 4 October 2012 Posted 4 October 2012 Kryten looked the the Emperor from Star Wars. A few jokes but not a patch on series 3.
