Well basically as many of you that know me know, i smoke and when im drinking i smoke a fair bit - i usually smoke 60-80 a week which in my opinion is a lot of Cigarettes.

So i decide to go to the Doctors to get some patches/help etc. and they tell me "you dont smoke enough to be given anything..." :o What the fock? I want to stop, i smoke 10 a day on average yet thats not enough.

So now i need more tips on how to stop seeing as only my will power will help me (and thats not worked so far.) Basically when im in a pub and having a pint i get the craving for a ciggy and feel like i need to do something with my other hand....so can anyone give me some sensible tips etc plz!!!

And dont say dont go pub because Tom will then get :( because he will have no-one to drink with :P

I can't believe a health care professional actually said this to you! Not that helpful.

To be honest, I can see her point, though. :P

Its a tricky one as I have never had the desire to smoke but I think your doctor could've been a bit more supportive! Stick 'help quitting smoking' into google and see what turns up. Good luck :)

You can't compromise on things like this. If the pub is where you smoke most, stop going. If Tom is any kind of mate he'll know how important it is for you to stop. Making excuses like that is part of the addiction.

Go in a Wetherspoons, smoking is banned, lots of added alcohol - Robert is indeed your mothers brother :D

The way I see it, if you really, really want to stop, you will find a way.

I've had friends try to give up smoking and fail miserably, only to find out they didn't really want to stop in the first place! If you see what I mean!

Thanks for that Kat searched on google and reading some stuff now :)

Why not just tell the doctor you're on 30 a day?

well i thought smoking 10 a day was enough to get the lowest form of patches but obviously not! I dont want patches that are too strong because i tried one of my mates and it made me feel ill (dizzy etc.) so i dont want to be saying i smoke 30 a day and then end up passing out lol

Put a piece of tissue over the filter of your cigarette and smoke through the tissue - You'll see all the nicotine stains on it. That might put you off.

Failing that put one days worth of cigarettes in a small jar and and a touch of water - put a lid on it - everytime you have an urge - have a sniff of the pot!

This is all easy for me to say though as I've never smoked!

lol he isnt going to stop his social life is he? Course i know its important for him to stop but im not gonna crush every cigarette there is.. hes gotta do it himself. Of course if he wants the help he knows where i am, what ''any kind of mate'' is for. I don't smoke, don't intend to either, and i know a few of craigs mates dont smoke around him so that might help aswel.

The problem is for smokers is that they go to places where they go and see people they know. if this smoking ban across the country in all public houses and restuarants go ahead then obviously problem solved but its not as easy as it sounds.

Kane Phillips done for robbery

Might seem a bit strange but my mate had them candy sticks that look like Cigs whenever he wanted a fag. it didnt help the craving but instead of smoking he just pulled out a candy stick!

Worth a try!
