Racism now spreads to U15 football in Leicestershire *shocked face*

I'm not sure of the law but you can be committing a crime by abusing someone regardless of what offensive language you use. I wouldn't make racial abuse a special case though. We really need to get over it by not giving it more attention than it deserves.

But turning a bling eye (or ear) won't solve a thing infact it'll make it a lot worse.

Black/asian people racially abuse white people then report abuse directed at them.

*shocked face*

So they should and if they've racially abused any white people they should have made a complaint as well. Any racism, either way, should be reported.

Where's the evidence of that?

Truth is if you keep making a big deal out of this kind of low level, largely inoffensive racism it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. That's what we're seeing here. It gets loads of attention in the press and then it starts to spread and then suddenly it snowballs into a massive issue.

If you don't want big snowballs, don't start one rolling.

If you turn a blind eye to knuckle dragging racists verbally abusing 14 year old kids, how long until they think they can get away with even more than that?

I'd rather we made an example of these prats instead of waiting for something really horrific to happen and reacting too late. If you make it ok for racists to racially abuse children then they're going to see how far they can go. Not to mention the fact that this kid or these kids who have been racially abused deserve some form of justice, do you think it's ok for people to effectivley tell them that we don't care about them being racially abused. Troll or Idiot, you really should be a bit more sensitive to the people who are being racially abused in this situation.

If we hadn't have made such a fuss over publicly "making an example" out of the senior players involved in the initial petty spat, this wouldn't have happened.

As a society we attach hugely disproportionate importance to what essentially amounts to a bit of childish name calling. I'm not saying we should let 'racist' abuse happen, but we should definitely try to see it through a more rational perspective.

If I was a 14 year old who had been racially abused by a bunch of fully grown adults at a football match, I wouldn't consider it to be 'a bit of childish name calling'. I don't think there can be too much importance attached to attempts to achieve equality amongst people regardless of their race, gender or sexuality, why should people be discriminated against for something they have no control over, and why should we turn a blind eye to the thick shits who do it. The people who are guilty of it deserve to be villianized, that's the only way it's going to be stamped out and football is a great tool for doing that.

You ignored the first part of my post which is the answer to what you've written.

Going a little off topic, but there was a white player from QPR who played for Jamaica several years ago (but in the past decade). I don't remember his name, but he was knicknamed white boy by the rest of his international team mates and laughed it off.

Genuinely interested in opinions, acceptable banter or irresponsible comments.

Part of me stands with Moosebreath - the player took no offence and it wasn't meant offensively so by playing it down, any potential heat was removed.

On the other hand I'd guess that Mark W would argue that you can't have selective racism can you?

But I am just second guessing their views.

First thing you need to do is define racism. For me there needs to be some kind of tangible discrimination, so name calling doesn't fit the bill. That doesn't excuse name calling, but it seperates it from more serious offences which do contain discrimination. It has been said many times but never seems to get through the wall of apologists - calling a black person a black bastard is no more offensive than calling a fat person a fat bastard or a ginger person a ginger bastard.

All depends on the intent. If his black team-mates were saying it as a joke and he took it as such, that's fine.

That said I've been the victim of obvious racial abuse on a cricket field before (I'm white) and it's just horrible. Would not wish it on anyone. Thankfully our club reported it and the twat responsible was fiend and banned.

I'm sure anyone who has played against Leicester Nirvana in their time will be pissing themselves at the irony of this.

Absolute vile bastards, worst I've played against. Hope it was a bad as the shit they have put on everyone else.

They can clearly see a few quid in this mind, Labour council will be building them a new ground after this.

He was singled out because of his race, yes I have a problem with that. That's regardless of whether he was ok with it or not, but I wouldn't read a lot into him 'laughing it off', that was his public reaction, but you don't know that's how he actually felt about it. Some in this thread are using racism from black people aimed at white people as some form of justification, but it isn't, if those people cared so much they'd have reported it like these kids obviously did. That said if the person you refer to genuinley didn't have a problem with it then he has no obligation to do anything about it, it just doesn't sit right with me.

So if they're racist/'vile' it's wrong, but if others do it to them it's fine, and in fact you hope 'it was a bad as the shit they have put on everyone else'. What makes one ok and the other not?

Fiendishly racist.

Not saying its ok, I'm saying I'd enjoy the vengeance.

Like when you hear about the guy who kicked you in has been beat up himself, it's not right of course, but don't tell me you don't feel a slight tinge of satisfaction about it.

This is the same.

Were they racist to you? And if so, were you offended? Or just not nice to play against?

This is sort of my point and I believe what others are trying to allure to.

It's defining the difference between racism and name calling, whilst others make one generalisation.

JT - massive twat, nasty piece of work and all round dick. Racist? probably not. Just my opinion, I don't know the bloke so am basing this on various articles.

My dad heard an interview with David James recently and he said that he hadn't encountered racism in his years of playing, he was taught the 'sticks and stones' message and he believed that some people in the FA were making more of this as it kept them in a job.

We do seem to be intent on making our country out to be a massive bunch of bigots when actually, we have made massive strides to improve on the banana throwing 80's and are focussing on a minority of idiots. Albeit these idiots should have the book thrown at them, but this could be done without the media scrum that seems to have engulfed it all.

After reading this thread it seems like people who have played against Nirvana went through the same as me and my teammates.

They were known for years as being quite racist themselves and now they are making accusations against another team. They'll probably get a new clubhouse from Keith Vaz

This incident was being dealt with by the County FA and all was going well, until this Masters guy leaked it to the press and started trying to make himself the centre of attention. He's a vile character, anyhow. Has almost certainly got ulterior motives behind this. £££ is my guess.

Played against him several times both in Saturday and Sunday football and like you say he's a vile man.

Have you ever had the misfortune of reffing a game he's been involved in?

DB, bit off subject but what age group of games do you referee?
