Guest MattP Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Were they racist to you? And if so, were you offended? Or just not nice to play against? Nah, nothing offends me though. Heard ten times worse on a cricket/rugby pitch regarding race but we leave it on the field, football is a little girls game now anyway, I wouldn't go near a pitch in 2012. They were directly racist towards us when we arrived at their ground, comments regarding how white guys don't usually show up round here then a few don't leave your gear in the changing rooms etc....absolute bunch of tossers, the guy above who says about talking through the minute silence doesnt surprise me one but, I'd expect it from them. Didn't help the ref was so intimidated he played about 8 mins injury time until they equalised as well. We all know what this is about, they'll get some ££££ out of it.
Mark_w Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 We all know what this is about, they'll get some ££££ out of it. Or maybe it's about a 14 year old actually being racially abused when they were playing football.
Guest MattP Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Or maybe it's about a 14 year old actually being racially abused when they were playing football. If that was the case you would have thought they would have let the local authorities deal with it. But why do that when we can have another racism story splashed across the papers for the World.
Soar Fox Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 If that was the case you would have thought they would have let the local authorities deal with it. But why do that when we can have another racism story splashed across the papers for the World. That's the thing it was on sky sports news on Monday, so now some people will automatically think they are a bunch of racists. When Blaby & Whetstone next play you'll probably have the opposition and their fans making remarks about them being "the team" that made racist comments.
Jimothy Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Or maybe it's about a 14 year old actually being racially abused when they were playing football. We don't know either way and we shouldn't even know it's happened and that's there's an investigation going on. Fed up with hearing these stories with no substance behind them, and the the likes of the Black Lawyer Society wading in before the facts have even been established. Look at the shit Clattenberg has had over the past week and a half, and none of really know what happened. Look at what happened with Lee Croft and the ball boy and the shit Croft got for it, in the end it was some idiot in the crowd making stuff up, yet he was still labelled a racist for weeks. I'm all for kicking racism out of football, but I don't want people using the race card wildly because they know it will immediately become news, which I think the recent rise in media reports of possible racism encourages people to do. The best way to kick racism out of football would be to deal with any accusations behind closed doors and only let things become public once it's been investigated fully and any punishment has been handed out. There is no such thing as innocent until proven guilty especially when the media are involved.

Jimothy Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 You must have missed the word maybe. Sorry the rest of it wasn't really in reply to you just the first line saying we don't know either way.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 The thing is though that Blaby & Whetstone appear to be having their name dragged through the mud as some kind of racist club which is just not true. I played for them when I was younger and we had black lads in the team. The age group above us had a mix of white, asian & black lads playing for them. Also we played Leicester Nirvana and even 20 years ago they were the same. Always had players sent off and were in general abusive and aggressive.
DB11 Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 DB, bit off subject but what age group of games do you referee? I referee adult football
Soar Fox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 I referee adult football You friends with Akil Howson? He's reffing our game on Sunday.
DB11 Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 You friends with Akil Howson? He's reffing our game on Sunday. Yeah. He's a level 3 though so what level do you play at ?
Soar Fox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Yeah. He's a level 3 though so what level do you play at ? Sundays I play for Fairfield Dynamo in Div 2 and Saturdays I play for Blaby & Whetstone senior team not the under 15's
DB11 Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Sundays I play for Fairfield Dynamo in Div 2 and Saturdays I play for Blaby & Whetstone senior team not the under 15's Blaby & Whetstone are in the East Midlands Counties? Being a level 3 Akil normally refs above that, but level 4 (before he got promoted) he'd have done that last year. I ran the line for Blaby & Whetstone games a few times. Last year they played Borrowash and loads of Oadby fans came down to watch chanting for Blaby to beat Borrowash I think

We had a game the other Sunday and had Brian Morrell officiating that guys brilliant . Didn't Akil used to play football at a decent level?

Manwell Pablo Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 You don't condone it, you just don't think it's a crime...? I don't condone a lot of things it doesn't make them a crime.
purpleronnie Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 I don't condone a lot of things it doesn't make them a crime. so nothing should happen to racists?
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 so nothing should happen to racists? Depends on what you class as racist doesn't it really. I know if people like you weren't so willing to kick up such a stink about minor incidents we wouldn't have more worrying incidents like the one above.
Guest MattP Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 so nothing should happen to racists? Out of interest what would you do to 'racists'?
ADK Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Its abit naive to think that you can solve the issue of racism by banning a few naughty words.

hairy Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Just reading what everyone is saying here about Nirvana. My lad played them recently, third league U15. I would like to point out there were no problems with them being racist at all. My lad plays for Kibworth and all but two of the squad are white so if anyone was going to get abuse from them they were high contenders. Infact he has played them many times over the past 8 years, home and away, and there has never been a hint of malice, verbal or physical. Even if Nirvana were racist to Blaby does that really justify the supports doing what they are reported to have done?
hairy Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 When Blaby & Whetstone next play you'll probably have the opposition and their fans making remarks about them being "the team" that made racist comments. This Sunday at Kibworth if you want to come and I very much doubt the team or the parents supporting will be wanting to get involved with this shit.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 so nothing? Good at this putting words in people's mouths aren't you. I think my answer was clear enough the first time; it would depend on the offense. But in terms of purely verbal abuse I think ethically the perpetrator should be looked down upon, on a football field should be sent off and banned, in a football stadium should be ejected and banned, in the case of a group attack (as the one above) or public speaking then yes there should be a charge of insighting racial hatred, but no I don't think name calling from person to another should be treated as a criminal offence it should be dealt with outside the legal system. And I say again if people like you didn't make such a fuss we wouldn't have half of the problems we do now. John Terry and Suarez were both delt with by the FA and Leicestershire FA are dealing with this. So your goody two shoes lets string up and get the Black Lawyers involved attitude is very counter productive.
