davieG Posted 23 November 2012 Share Posted 23 November 2012 As the random 11 game was a success yesterday, I think it's time to do a weekly quiz on this forum just for a bit of fun. So it's time to name the game, can you identify the scoreline, manager and starting 11 from the following. For the manager and starting 11 I have left out certain letters, no cheating please. Game - Leicester v West Ham Competition - Division One League Position at time - 4th Manager - M_t_ / _ i _ _ i _ _ Matt Gillies Starting 11 GK - G_ _ d _ _ / _ a _ k _ Gordon Banks RB - _ e _ / _ h _ _ m _ _ s Len Chalmers LB - R _ _ h _ _ / _ _ r _ a _ Richie Norman CB - _ a _ / K _ _ _ Ian King CB - _ _ l _ n / _ p _ _ _ t _ _ Colin appleton WG - F _ a _ _ / _ _ l _ _ t _ _ _ Frank McLintock WG - _ i _ e / _ _ r _ _ g _ _ l _ _ _ Mike Stringfellow IF - _ a _ _ d / _ i _ _ o _ David Gibson IF - _ e _ r _ / H _ _ _ h CF - _ l _ _ r _ / _ _ e _ _ e _ r _ _ _ _ CF - _ _ n / _ e _ _ o _ _ _ Ken Keyworth It might be easy, but who knows, enjoy still thinking about the others. Nearly didn't get my all time favourite player Davie Gibson, written as David

I wasn't cheating that's my era I can remember those players better than I can remember who played in the last game and what the score was. Albert Cheeseborough and Terry Heath never saw much of them and I don't think Heath played many games.

kingfox Posted 23 November 2012 Author Share Posted 23 November 2012 Correct Steve and Davie. Extra questions then. What was the season? What was the score? Who scored the goals? Who made their debut in the match?
davieG Posted 23 November 2012 Share Posted 23 November 2012 Correct Steve and Davie. Extra questions then. What was the season? 1962/3 What was the score? No idea 2-1 to us Who scored the goals? At guess Keyworth who was fairly prolific & Cheeseborough Who made their debut in the match? Heath only because he couldn't have played more than a dozen games What was the season? 1962/3 ish What was the score? No idea 2-1 to us Who scored the goals? davieG Posted 23 November 2012 Share Posted 23 November 2012 Stringfellow and or Gibson We were good that season so 1-0 or 2-0 to us. I think you should pick a more recent season you might get more than 2 or 3 people having a go.
Kitchandro Posted 23 November 2012 Share Posted 23 November 2012 I'll guess 4-1. Gibson, Stringfellow with 2, and Keyworth. No idea though.

I think you should pick a more recent season you might get more than 2 or 3 people having a go. I have done it by using the random game option, like I did with the players yesterday this was the game which came up. We won 2-0, all we need now is the goalscorers. Can anyone name them? davieG Posted 23 November 2012 Share Posted 23 November 2012 So it wasn't Keyworth, Stringfellow, Gibson or Cheeseborough. McLintock & Heath then.

kingfox Posted 23 November 2012 Author Share Posted 23 November 2012 Well Kitch knows it. I didn't say one of your goalscorers were wrong Davie. You will surely get it in a minute.
davieG Posted 23 November 2012 Share Posted 23 November 2012 Well Kitch knows it. I didn't say one of your goalscorers were wrong Davie. You will surely get it in a minute. No you didn't but by not saying one was correct it implied they were both wrong. Stringfellow, I think Kitchandro and I both said him and we both got one right and I'll go for the only other non-defender McLintock for the other. Well done guys, will put another one up tomorrow or next Friday, hopefully something more in date. Was quite easy, but thought people would struggle on Terry Heath. DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 November 2012 Share Posted 24 November 2012 I wasn't cheating that's my era I can remember those players better than I can remember who played in the last game and what the score was. Albert Cheeseborough and Terry Heath never saw much of them and I don't think Heath played many games. My thoughts entirely. I remember Gordon Wills and Albert Cheeseborough vied for the left wing birth, until the arrival of Mike "(Beanpole") Stringfellow from Mansfield Town. What a gent Mathew Muirhead Gillies was. He was also a J.P, as well as being our manager. live those games to this day. Gordon Wills and Albert Cheeseborough were always challenging for that left wing spot, until the arrival of Mike ("Beanpole") Stringfellow, from Mansfield Town.
