I am Rod Hull Posted 15 December 2012 Posted 15 December 2012 Taylor's shirt is quite simply majestic. Very festive. ----------------- Ovens 11/10 Hopp 8/11 I think I`ll leave it.... Edit: Hold on a minute, Ovens game will slow Hopp down . £5 on Ovens it is :xmascool:
foxesfan1989 Posted 16 December 2012 Posted 16 December 2012 What bets have people put on then? I put on Barny at 16/1 and Hamilton at 40/1 a couple of weeks ago.
foxesfan1989 Posted 16 December 2012 Posted 16 December 2012 Just put on Part at 80/1 too. (you just never know haha)

I put on Barny at 16/1 and Hamilton at 40/1 a couple of weeks ago. Was going to have a bet, but can't be arsed to go down Narborough Road, and won't do it online. My money if I put any on would be on Van Gerwen and Whitlock this year. Outsider for me will be Robert Thornton, in serious solid form. Wins for all the seeds today I think, but Barney v Smith should be a cracker.
I am Rod Hull Posted 16 December 2012 Posted 16 December 2012 Did you submit that bet, on paedo Ovens? . Yes, but I got 2/1 on him when he was one set down  D.Ovens 3-2 M.HoppD.Ovens @ 2/1
kingfox Posted 16 December 2012 Author Posted 16 December 2012 Yes, but I got 2/1 on him when he was one set down  D.Ovens 3-2 M.HoppD.Ovens @ 2/1 Fair going, good old trampy paedo looking Ovens. Taylor bigging up Hopp then he loses with a average of below 80 To me the standard the first two days hasn't been anything special, only Thornton and Jenkins have caught my attention.

Couldn't agree more. Some of the unknowns look like they don't belong up there. I've seen more 1s and 5s hit in the last couple of days than ever before. As Taylor said, the top pros just play the player so nothing special will come from them yet.
Corky Posted 16 December 2012 Posted 16 December 2012 Have they televised the preliminary round before, or have I arrived too late in recent years?

I've seen more 1s and 5s hit in the last couple of days than ever before. As Taylor said, the top pros just play the player so nothing special will come from them yet. These youngsters should have made breakthroughs by now, some of them have had enough television experience by now, to go out and play good darts and actually test the big guns. James Hubbard yesterday, should of really dispatched Burnett, one of these prospects who people are expecting good things from yet he averages below 80 and loses again. Same applies to Joe Cullen who also played last night, but put in a much better performance than Hubbard, but he is more than capable of taking a set or two off John Part. Some others who really need to make a step up sooner or later, is Arron Monk, Jerry Hendricks and Michael Smith who is playing Barney tonight. I really hope Smith goes out and plays well and gives Barney a game, because out of all the youngsters I've mentioned he has the most promise. These types of players, really need to play their own game and play the board or they won't stand a chance. Have they televised the preliminary round before, or have I arrived too late in recent years? They have televised the prelims for a while now I think, or the last couple of years, eight matches to determine who plays some of the seeds in the main draw, then they come back on for the final match of the session, and most likely play shit and lose 3-0.
cambridgefox Posted 16 December 2012 Posted 16 December 2012 RVB is on fire That was sheer class from start to finish.108 avg 75% check out.i love him.
I am Rod Hull Posted 16 December 2012 Posted 16 December 2012 That was sheer class from start to finish.108 avg 75% check out.i love him. Did you see the end of his interview when the crowd were singing "Barney army", He stood up and acknowledged them and said "what a country" with a tear in his eye.
foxesfan1989 Posted 16 December 2012 Posted 16 December 2012 I missed Barney but by the sounds of it my 16/1 bet is looking goooooooooooooood!
kingfox Posted 16 December 2012 Author Posted 16 December 2012 Thank you Mr Barneveld for kick starting the World Championships hopefully. Great performance, thought Michael Smith would get a better average than that and give Barney a contest, but it's almost impossible to handle someone hitting a 108 average. Barney Thornton Jenkins Players of the first three days, unless Anderson or his opponent who is looking decent springs anything out of the hat.
kingfox Posted 17 December 2012 Author Posted 17 December 2012 Didn't see any Darts tonight apart from Anderson's match, very good game that. So just managed to see Barney's interview on SSN, and he made the same point as me earlier on today, about the standard of the games so far, the under par performances making him angry even. Well said Barney.
ScouseFox Posted 17 December 2012 Posted 17 December 2012 Anyone see that Prelim leg then? Both men missed at least 9 darts at a double until Bowles hit double 1 Proper pub darts.
ScouseFox Posted 17 December 2012 Posted 17 December 2012 Mark Webster is on frickin' fire here. 180 after 180 after 180. Great stuff.
ScouseFox Posted 17 December 2012 Posted 17 December 2012 I think I prefer it when nobody can hit a double. Fantastic drama. Both players on D1 for what seemed like an age
I am Rod Hull Posted 17 December 2012 Posted 17 December 2012 Jamie Caven 2-3 John BowlesJ.Bowles 3-2 @ 5/1  Only had 50p on it but it does make the game more exciting. Cracking game btw.
kingfox Posted 17 December 2012 Author Posted 17 December 2012 Shame Caven lost, gotta support the Leicester lad, very unlucky tonight. Bowles played poor in his Prelim, then comes out and produces that. Amazing Darts and a superb game. Nice to see Webster playing well again, he really needed that performance.
isaidno Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 First night I've actually sat down to watch this years tournament tonight. Beaton won without playing that well, kept missing doubles. The King match later should be the match of the night
Tom17LCFC Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Annoying because I had a bit on Lewis but fair play Ilagan, thought he was out of that!!
