JJ Abrams is a genius in the making

Two observations:

1) From a brief preview, it appears that Mr Abrams is serving up the 2nd, darker, sadder instalment of what is becoming a brilliant cutting edge sci-fi franchise - The Trek Empire Strikes Back, perhaps? This bodes well for it actually being a brilliant film, just like the last one, but turning out utterly differently.

2) Yet another posh English accented thesp playing the bad guy. Luckily, Cumberbatch is usually very good at what he does.

Looking forward to this immensely.

I am really looking forward to this. The first one was amazing.

As for this sneak peak, a full trailer will be out December 14 as it's being shown prior to The Hobbit? I believe.

Talk about Nerdsploitation: I thought it was bad enough with Star Trek being rebooted in the first place, Sylar being cast as Spock and Simon Pegg being put in there. Now the people's Sherlock is being drafted in too?

I might not watch this just to let Hollywood know they can't just glue our icons together and expect a result - I was burned when I paid for the first one after all; talk about shitty plot devices.
