Hugo Sanchez Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 Im guessing you didn't travel to viena in the uefa cup ? They saved alot of city fans taking a beating and saved the likes of you, from getting killed from the serbs. You are one of them people who slag them off but really wanted to be in the bs. You're not known down city are you ? From the 80s? Didn't think so. Why don't you stick to soccer.

You're not known down city are you ? From the 80s? Didn't think so. Why don't you stick to soccer. Do you think the Baby Squad are really cool or something? You do realise how firms like them have ruined football for todays generation? Can't you see how everything you see now - all-seater stadiums, heavy handed policing, the obssession with families - is all a backlash from the authorities which can traced back to the violence in the 80s? And yet you still defend them as if they (you?) are some kind of cool dudes? I'm sure it was all a laugh back then - scrapping like thugs, chucking bricks at each other, picking on the weak who were just there for a good time, etc. Thanks for saving us all from those unruly Serbs (the arch villains!) but maybe football violence wouldn't be so rife on the continent if it hadn't been popularised by the likes of the Baby Squad. The book sounds interesting, in the same way a book about WW2 might be interesting. It might be dramatic and significant, and I'm intriuged, but it's a part of history we're glad is behind us.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 I don't think it was all to do with firms. Think 96 people dying was the end of a era in this country. Still i think you should thank the bs for that night in viena. You want to copy this crappy ultra typeod fan. You know ultras start on normal fans not like the bs.

I've never said I wanted to copy the ultrasas such. I think we should steer clear of that tag and be careful not to idolise them too much for that very reason. Their attitude to vocally backing their team is what I admire, not all the other stuff. The Hillsborough disaster may not have even happened if it wasn't for the firms. How much was the way the authorities acted that day influenced by their view of football fans? By their fear of disturbence, etc? Recent evidence would suggest that was significant. Even in recent quotes we can hear people talking about 'the dark days of the 80s' as a reason for not having safe standing. They aren't just talking about a freak incident.
Guest MattP Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 Is this the bloke known as 'semi'? Semmi well it is a true story. Not really, the BS were hugely respected back in the day, probably one of the top 5-6 firms in the country. Im guessing you didn't travel to viena in the uefa cup ? I won't get into the rest of it but you are spot on about Vienna, them animals were attacking anything that moved, (one of them swinging at what must have been no more than a ten year old with a pipe was a memory I still think about now) Had they not been out there and no one was fighting back you have to seriously wonder if a couple of our innocent fans would have came back in boxes, sickening stuff.

Its too easy for fans to say negative things but it is true about firms protectin g their own fans abroad

Mack Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 Is this where the kids who cant remember read books like this and watch 'Football Factory' and sugar coat what was the bad old days. Because as a little kid seeing blades flashing, blood and being terrified was not much ****ing fun!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 If you need a 'firm' to do that you might want to take a good long look at yourself. Hope you'll come to Napoli with us when we play them one day
Guest Bilo Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 I have heard quite a few stories about the BS in Vienna, very close to what's already been said. Is the story about the Serbs attacking a train they thought to be full of ordinary Leicester fans, only to find out it was full of BS the hard way true?
Guest Bilo Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 Hope you'll come to Napoli with us when we play them one day Naples is a scary place at night at the best of times, rough as a badger's arse. I'd hate to see it on a matchday as the opposition.

I've heard the rumours too supposedly true apparently there was footage of it on the Internet at some point... There is the video below though the rumours are from the subway I believe?
ADK Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 It's football violence that has led to the removal of standing from games and gives ordinary football fans a bad rep. Can't see why people would want to glorify it.

Can't see why people would want to glorify it. I would argue it's the authorities' inability to differentiate between the vast, vast majority of law-abiding fans and the tiny minority of those who go for a ruck that has led to that.
Guest MattP Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 If you need a 'firm' to do that you might want to take a good long look at yourself. Did you go to Vienna? If you say yes tbh I wouldn't even believe you after saying that. That was different to anything else I've seen.

Yep Pretty much going at the windows as it was pulling up and the next carriage that opened was full of some tasty lads, one of their lot got dragged on as well and the door was locked. Went from jabbing flag poles at kids to saying how he respected Leicester bigtime
Rincewind Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 It's that sort of thing that put me off going to matches for a long time. I agree that it is only a minority but when there are two 100+ sets of fans walking past each other shouting abuse/banter it only takes one idiot to take a swing or throw something to involve others who may accidently get involved or hit who then have mates defending them. How are the police to know who are the real thugs? When I went down I walked on the opposite side of the road to the masses and took the quietest route to and from the ground. I did not want to be pulled to one side or pushed into somebody who might turn round and wallop me.

Zingari Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 Baby Squad ? Why did they give themselves that stupid feckin name ?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 Baby Squad ? Why did they give themselves that stupid feckin name ? Thry were a relatively young bunch of lads compared to other firms. Think someone may have said, 'they look like a bunch of babies'
Zingari Posted 30 December 2012 Posted 30 December 2012 Thry were a relatively young bunch of lads compared to other firms. Think someone may have said, 'they look like a bunch of babies' The name doesn't exactly strike terror in the heart. What sort of age group are we talking about when they started ?
