indierich06 Posted 18 February 2013 Posted 18 February 2013 Click on this link lamby looks and sounds quite good. http://www.gumtree.c...rena/1007788573 I worked there part time when I first moved to London for a bit of extra cash, it was alright. Nice boozer. More geared towards food than booze though.
foxfanazer Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Got a telephone interview on Monday for William Hill. Has anybody ever applied with them before? Not sure if the stage after that will be a proper interview?
Rincewind Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 I've applied for a cashier at Betfred as one of my 'jobsearch' actions for the week. Anyway as I am now a sub-editor of DNO I can slow down and not worry so much about the rejections.

Anyway as I am now a sub-editor of DNO I can slow down and not worry so much about the rejections. Could be a very stressful job Rincewind, dealing with customers, moving around quickly to get bets on in time etc. Is the DNO role paid?
Rincewind Posted 22 February 2013 Posted 22 February 2013 Yes it's paid. As it's a charity they can only pay for a few hours. Action Homeless the employers. I don't expect to get the betting shop job. They will likely take on a younger, more experienced alternative gender applicant. I know I would in their position but because of the PC law they cannot say that in their ad. The job is on a running six month contract I think when they will see how the project is going before extending it.
foxfanazer Posted 6 March 2013 Posted 6 March 2013 Got an interview tomorrow for the local post office, well actually the bank that's attached to it. I know the guy that is interviewing me which I'm not sure if its a good thing or not. He told me that it wouldn't be too formal so not too nervous about it. Fingers crossed!
foxfanazer Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 Intervew went quite well (I think) had to show how well I handled money so he gave me a massive wad of 20's 10's and 5's and I had to count it out. Was £1345! Good luck fella. thanks
notnow john Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 Always admired how quick those cashiers fingers are!
birdwith2beaksandnofriends Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 Always admired how quick those cashiers fingers are! Steady on, dirty boy.

foxfanazer Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 How much did you trouser afterwards? If the interview had have gone completely tits up I'd have took a couple of hundred
Guest Bilo Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 How the bloody hell did we arrive at this point? Scrounging and proud, no wonder benefit claimaints get such a bad name in this country. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxYd-fK4mLs

Scrounging and proud, no wonder benefit claimaints get such a bad name in this country. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxYd-fK4mLs Thats outrageous. What a waste of space!I'm currently job seeking and it is soul destroying. I'm yet to receive any Jobseeker's Allowance but when I do it will be used for bus fare to interviews and topping up my phone so I can use my Internet to job search. Surely that's what it's there for?
BoneDog Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Looks like they just dragged her in, paid her with a bag full of fags and vodka and had someone at the side of her egging her on. A sort of GMTV 'Graham off Jezza' type stood at her side sticking his thumbs up mouthing 'GREAT JOB DUCK, KEEP GOING'. It's got fix written all over it if you arx me.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 I agree to an extent Empty, but for reasons no more cynical than this moron making good TV. A nice, honest job seeker who'd given up the Sky and nights out to pay for bus fares and business clothes to seek a job wouldn't make the blood boil like this vile woman. It's worth remembering that George Orwell's Two Minutes of Hate idea was in part inspired by his time at the BBC, Nineteen Eighty Four was an incredibly prophetic work when you think about it. That rather misses the point though. There will always be the spectacularly lazy and the moronic in our society, but while the system allows people like this to slip through the net the media will continue to roll them out as and when they're needed.
MooseBreath Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Was just about to say if that was in the daily mail people would immediately disregard it as nonsense. How many nore examples of these scum cheating the hand outs system before we say enough is enough and scrap the whole thing. Women like her would be off to work in a shot at the sight of any prospect of genuine hardship, and that's the way it should be. 1) shared accommodation for all on hand outs 2) food stamps with heavy restrictions, no fags, no booze, just the pure essentials, bread, milk, rice, eggs, grain, some meat once a week. And that's being generous. In reality half of these workshy ****wits don't deserve a single thing and should be left to rot.

Rincewind Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 And what would you do to the majority low paid workers that are on benifits or the part time workers or the mothers-tobe forced back to work because of the rising cost of child care?

You could be right about the reasons, but I see it as a sort of hate campaign that is going to hurt many more people besides the bone idol who take advantage. I see a mission to crush the poor and also turn the middle class into a lower class! That could be my conspiracy training, but I've yet to be convinced that this isn't the case. Is that Two Minutes of Hate thing in the book 1984? I've read it but don't remember that part. Might have to give another read.

The only problem with that is, all the people on jobseekers who actually look for jobs/not drink their money away will suffer and is unfair on them. IMO
MooseBreath Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 The only problem with that is, all the people on jobseekers who actually look for jobs/not drink their money away will suffer and is unfair on them. IMO What is "fair"? They don't work, they get given shit for free, and that's not fair? Come off it. And what would you do to the majority low paid workers that are on benifits or the part time workers or the mothers-tobe forced back to work because of the rising cost of child care? Raise the tax free allowance so they pay less tax and therefore don't need benefits.
