Roy Cropper!

It's been reported that Roy in coronation street is a big city fan and every now and again there is a reference to our beloved team in the show. I have never seen anything that backs this up, until last night!

At 8 minutes in there is a plaque in the cafe with 'shil 66' partly hidden, after googling shilton66 it turns out that is the year he made his debut for us as a 16 year old.

Roy you are a hero!!!

Any body seen other examples on this or other shows of city advertising?

This is true. He went to Uni at Loughborough as a young lad and became a fan then. He often accompanies the Birch for his annual run around the pitch during the last home game of each season.

Pretty well known. I heard he once read out a serial number on the coffee machine when reporting a fault as LCFC1997.

Yep, thinking about it I've seen him doing the laps with birch a few times.

It is true and he has done a lot of references in Coronation Street. He also played in the Steve Walsh testimonial at Filbo years ago, flying down the wing he was - kind of.

I remember one episode where Roy said to Hayley ,"you'll have to get rid of that pr1ck"

The next day Peter Taylor got the sack .

He also told all city fans to fcuk off as we are ignorant.

Old trafford away end. On the concorse at ht. Cant remember what year, but around the time of the hayley being a man thing being big news. All the city fans singing does she take it up the arse. Massive sense of humour failure from old roy.

I think he was refering to Hayley's up coming operation

I think him running around the pitch with the Birch umpteen times on the last home game of the season gave it away a bit for me!

Fair play to the bloke, I'm sure he could've quite easily got a seat in a corporate area but chose to sit with the fans.

He was in a programme, maybe last season explaining his references in Coro but apparently when they worked out what he was doing he got told to stop it.

He was also heard on the phone reporting a problem with a piece of apparatus in the cafe, when asked what make it was he said 'It's a Kamaark' This was around the time we beat Boro in the Coca Cola cup final, and Pontuus had marked their star man - forget his name now - out of the game. There was a thread on a now long-lost forum all about Roys references. The Claridge one is true, although I thought he was talking about an old teacher of his, something like 'Ah yes, I'll never forget Mr Claridge'. It did happen though, I distinctly remember seeing it at the time.
