Ideal Premier League

If the PL were franchised, who would you have in it? To ensure the best number of 'big games', derbies and in the inclusion of the biggest clubs? I'd like to see a 24 team PL, comprising:

Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea

West Ham United

Liverpool

Everton

Manchester United

Manchester City

Newcastle United

Sunderland AFC

Aston Villa

Birmingham City

Wolverhampton Wanderers

West Bromwich Albion

Nottingham Forest

Derby County

Leicester City

Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield United

Leeds United

Swansea City

Cardiff City

Southampton

Portsmouth

Franchising won't happen. But it does ensure maximum attendances and maximum number of big games.

12 London Derbies

2 Manchester Derbies

2 Liverpool Derbies

2 Liverpool-Man U derbies

2 Roses Matches

4 Yorkshire derbies

2 Steel city Derbies

2 Leeds-Chelsea games

2 Tyne & Wear derbies

12 West Midlands derbies

2 Welsh derbies

6 East midlands derbies

2 south coast derbies

2 Arsenal-Man U

2 Chelsea-Man U

2 Liverpool-Chelsea

Total Big Games: 58

Which means an average of at least one big rivalry match every weekend. Plus, The Championship could still have some pretty tasty games. QPR v Fulham, Charlton v Millwall, Bristol City v Bristol Rovers, the various Burnley / Blackburn / Bolton / Blackpool / Preston / Wigan games, Norwich v Ipswich.

Blackburn and Burnley would have to be in mine. Simply because that rivalry is big and intense. Better than the Steel City derby, in my opinion.

Looking at the championship I think this would be pretty sly on Fulham haha, like the concept though!

No. Just, no.

No. Just, no.

Considering the thread reads 'who would be in yours?' and also considering that I posted 'for me', makes it my opinion meaning there isn't a 'no' or 'yes'.

The Sheffield derby pulls in the thick end of 40,000 at Hillsborough every time. The 1979 meeting still holds the record for the best attended game in the third tier ever, just under 50,000 on Boxing Day for an 11am kick-off.

If Wednesday and United were consistently in the Premiership, it'd be recognised as being up there with the Manchester and North London derbies. It's easy to underestimate just how massive it is.

It's a no when you claim Blackburn Burnley is bigger than the Sheffield derby just because MOTD tried to hype it up a few seasons ago.

Yeah I said it was 'better'. I didn't realise motd did anything like that though, I've always though it was big.

It's not though. Don't get me wrong, Burnley - Blackburn is a decent rivalry, but it's nowhere near the same level as the Sheffield derby.

Make sure Celtic, Hibs, Hearts, Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Wrexham, Linfield, Cliftonville and Derry are in there just for Mack.

No Glentoran no comment.

To be fair they could start their own league all together

I knew I'd missed one of the main NI ones out, I chucked Derry in but don't they play in the Southern league or did I imagine that?
