Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 If promotion to and relegation from the Premier League was scrapped, which 20 clubs would you choose to form a permanent American style top flight? Which of the current Premier League clubs would you get rid of and which of the current Football League clubs would you bring in? And why?
SystonFox Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 All of the clubs mentioned in a thread the same as this two years ago
Danizen Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 Wigan, Swansea, QPR and Reading out. Leeds, us, Birmingham and Forest up. I don't know why, it just feels right...
Mark_w Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 Hate the idea, but I guess I'd go with something like this... Manchester United Manchester City Chelsea Everton Tottenham Arsenal Liverpool West Ham Norwich Newcastle Sunderland Southampton Aston Villa Leicester Nottingham Forest Derby Leeds United Ipswich Sheffield Wednesday Sheffield United

Guest Bilo Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 Not sure if I'm being consistent but I'd go with... Manchester United Manchester City Arsenal Liverpool Everton Tottenham Newcastle Sunderland Chelsea Aston Villa West Ham West Brom Wolves Notts Forest Leicester Leeds Derby Sheffield Wednesday Swansea Cardiff Rivalries everywhere.
Carl the Llama Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 Out: Stoke x 100, Norwich, Reading, Fulham (too many Lahndahn sides), So'ton, Wigan. In: Us, F****t & Derby (gotta have whipping boys), Leeds and the 2 Sheffields. Edit: following Bilo's post above I'd also swap QPR for Cardiff - don't want the swans getting lonely.
StanSP Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 Man Utd Man City Arsenal Chelsea Fulham Everton Liverpool Tottenham Leicester Sunderland Newcastle Swansea Leeds Forest Aston Villa Southampton Derby West Ham Cardiff Crystal Palace
Webbo Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 I don't know why people assume we'd be in there. I think our average finishing position in the league is around 23rd.
Craig Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 I'd hope we have nothing to do with it. Much rather stay in the FL with promotions/relegations.
Kitchandro Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 I don't know why people assume we'd be in there. I think our average finishing position in the league is around 23rd. Surely it would be based on who is currently in the Premiership? In any case my ideal Premiership would be the biggest clubs/clubs with the biggest fanbase, so we'd be in there. But I would have no interest if this actually happened.
Mark_w Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 In any case my ideal Premiership would be the biggest clubs/clubs with the biggest fanbase, so we'd be in there. Would we?
Corky Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 On that basis, yes. Our average attendance must be in the top 20.
Soar Fox Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 Arsenal Aston Villa Chelsea Cardiff Derby Everton Leeds Leicester Liverpool Man Utd Man city Newcastle Nottingham forest Sunderland Sheffield Wednesday Swansea Tottenham West Ham West Brom Wolves
Captain... Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 I like the idea of having rivalries in there, although that would be us out unfortunately. So top 10 rivalries. Manchester city and united Arsenal Tottenham Liverpool Everton Newcastle Sunderland Birmingham Villa Southampton Portsmouth Wednesday Leeds Norwich Ipswich West ham Millwall Probably missing some obvious ones not really thinking straight at the mo. Not going to put Derby forest in Nor Chelsea Fulham that's not real. Is Swansea Cardiff a rivalry?
Tom17LCFC Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 I'd just give up watching football. lol For what it's worth: Man Utd Man City Arsenal Spurs Chelsea West Ham Newcastle Sunderland Liverpool Everton Villa WBA Wolves Leicester Forest Derby Leeds Wednesday Swansea Cardiff Think that'd make an absolutely cracking league! Who knows in 2 seasons!
Guest MattP Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 On that basis, yes. Our average attendance must be in the top 20. We'd miss out by one spot. http://www.footballeconomy.com/content/top-30-english-football-clubs-average-attendances-2010-11
StanSP Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 Is Swansea Cardiff a rivalry? I'd say it was. I don't know much about the history of either club, I'll be honest. But especially with the rise of both clubs in recent years, notably and obviously Swansea, having those 2 in the Premier League would be pretty good I reckon.
Guest MattP Posted 14 December 2012 Posted 14 December 2012 Is Swansea Cardiff a rivalry? Are you actually being serious? They were banned from each others grounds a few years back because the violence got that bad. This is a video from Wales v England. This isn't the English arriving into Cardiff, it's Swansea
accessory Posted 14 December 2012 Posted 14 December 2012 Arsenal Aston Villa Chelsea Everton Ipswich Leeds Leicester Liverpool Manchester City Manchester United Newcastle Norwich Sheffield United Sheffield Wednesday Southampton Stoke Sunderland Tottenham West Bromwich Albion West Ham
Kitchandro Posted 14 December 2012 Posted 14 December 2012 We'd miss out by one spot. http://www.footballe...ndances-2010-11 Sure but ours would be better than quite a few of those if we were in the same league as them.
Guest MattP Posted 14 December 2012 Posted 14 December 2012 Sure but ours would be better than quite a few of those if we were in the same league as them. Maybe but a couple below like Sheff Wed and Leeds would also topple us if in the Prem.
Kitchandro Posted 14 December 2012 Posted 14 December 2012 Maybe but a couple below like Sheff Wed and Leeds would also topple us if in the Prem. We'd still be in the top 20 easily though. Leeds already above us in that list. The likes of Stoke, Norwich and Fulham don't have stadiums big enough to compete and Blackburn and Birmingham do not have the fanbase that we do.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 December 2012 Posted 14 December 2012 I bet fans of other clubs wouldnt choose,us
