Does anyone use an Apple Watch for golf?

I’ve got one that I’ve never used, and just wondered if anyone uses one for yardages.

I use GolfShot and Hole19 on my phone, but hate getting it out every shot (especially in the winter).

So, any advice? Or am I better buying a Garmin or similar which are better designed for golf?

Cheers.

Yeah I used Golfshot on my Apple Watch for a bit and it was fine. It worked, but it was a bit fiddly/unresponsive sometimes. But £ for £ it gives you roughly the right yardage to front middle and back. Only changed as I bought myself a laser instead but if I hadn’t I’d still be using that.

Where do you play? I’m at Horsforth if you ever fancy a round, just LMK!

Cheers mate, I tried GolfShot but the app seemed to want me to be playing golf 24/7 telling me I’m 8km from the green randomly 😂 it must know I’m really bad and think I’m playing!

I play at the Manor (Driglington) and Willow Valley (Brighouse). I work over your way and there are some lovely courses by the looks of it. Definitely up for sorting something out as the weather turns. Where do you usually play?

Member at horsforth so can get on there whenever, but yeah will have to wait until a bit warmer as very wet at the minute being in that valley next to the airport. I like the Manor played that a few times, know they’ve spent a bit of money on the course too, also Baildon, Hollins Hall, The Bradford at Guiseley, even Woodhall Hills, all worth a trip out. Would like to play Cleckheaton as well as heard that’s decent.

Ha! This got me, tbf the only reason I got the laser is so I could zap the bunkers to work out how far I needed to be to avoid going in the bastards. Never took a flag on in my life lol

Can’t quite believe it yet but my old man is taking me to the Masters this April.

Only for the Monday practice day but even so.

For a golf perv like me, this is proper bucket list stuff.

I’ll let you all know if Augusta is all it’s cracked up to be

Class. Reckon you can sneak some clubs in?

Arrested for those trousers I hope.

FYI extremely loose fitting, brown trousers are mandatory at Augusta.

Rory at his brilliant best to win easy at Pebble.

Lowry 2nd and Rose 3rd to top off a great week for the Europeans.

The 2025 season off to a great start.

Was only able to catch the back nine for the leaders today. Rory looked at his very best.

Could he finally get that fifth major?

I really hope so. I think he's got a great chance this year.

He's won four times at Quail Hollow where the PGA is being staged and he knows Portrush like the back of his hand for the Open.

His recent US Open record is good and he's got every chance at Oakmont. And we all know he's come so close at the Masters before.

He usually has a great season when he gets off to a hot start so I'd say his odds are excellent this year.

Good points and I really wish he does get over the line somewhere, you sense if he gets over the line somewhere that isn't Augusta that'll help him break the duck there too.

Out of those I'd be picking him at Quail, loves it there.

Phenomenal player and has some incredible achievements, but if he retired tomorrow you'd sit there going, what could've been?

Which is mad really when you consider he's got over 40 wins worldwide, 27 on the PGA tour, 3 Fed Ex championships, 6 European orders of merit, 4 majors and 7 ryder cup appearances.

I think the fact he's also had 14 top 5's in majors (including 4 runner up) leaves you with that feeling of what could have been. He should have at least 6 major wins really with his talent.

Rory is definitely my favorite player of the last 15 years. And the fact he's pretty much always been in the worlds top 10 during that time shows his incredible consistency.

And a net worth of $300m ain't bad going either :o

Yep, pretty much nailed it.

Shows you how much emphasis (myself included), that people put on majors rather than anything else.

I think in more recent times as well there's just too many examples in majors where he should've won and didn't. The Open where he hit all 18 greens in reg and Cam Smith somehow beat him was the one that sticks with me. Obviously Bryson at the US Open too, I realise he had his own heroics but he only had the chance because of Rory letting him in again.

What are people’s thoughts on Rick Shiels’ association with LIV?

I’ve just watched his latest Break 75 that came out today and it doesn’t feel like too much will change (I say that in a positive way)

I felt a bit let down by his video with Rahm and Koepka though- it being only 9 holes.

I do think though, knowing what Rick scored today at Riyadh, it might make me more likely to check the LIV scores this week to see how he compares to the field. That’ll be the first interest I’ve shown in LIV, so I suppose their coalition is already starting to do what they set out to achieve!

I think it’s a great move by LIV first and foremost. They know from Bryson's success on YouTube that it’s the way forward so they’ve bagged the OG in Rick Shiels knowing it’ll get them more eyeballs.

From Ricks POV, I think the fact he wasn’t invited to the PGA Tour Creator Classic last year really pissed him off. All the other main YouTubers got asked apart from him so I reckon he’s stuck to fingers up and fvcked of to partner with LIV.

From the sound of it, his content won’t change that much apart from all his collaborations being with LIV players. He gets to travel the world and get paid a shit load for doing it. Fair play to him.

He's lost about 15k subscribers who think he’s taken the blood money but that’s Fvck all when he’s got neatly 3m. I watch LIV events so I’m pretty clued up on that tour anyway.

Yeah, the lack of invite to that and all the hoo has about it passed me by for some reason.

Yeh, it’s a shrewd move by LIV too.

The 'deal' was supposed to be over the line more than a year ago and it's getting boring now. Just let PIP buy in and get on with it.

And I see the US Open have just decided to give spots to the highest ranked LIV players so the back tracking begins.

LIV players must be pissing themselves laughing. Took the money but will now be invited back into the fold.

The WM Phoenix Open is probably my least favorite PGA tour event of the year. I can see why Rory, Tommy, Xander, Collin and Viktor give it a massive swerve.

200,000 pissed up yanks chucking beer cans, stripping off, and generally being rowdy, gobby cvnts.

Save all that shit for LIV please.

Aren’t they supposed to be toning it down/tightening it up a bit this year?
