After this post i scrutinised each hole and I think for sure most shots were lost on putting. Here's a question, if youre putting from off the green do you count it as a putt?

If my Dads mate did that he'd have had some 5 putts in his career, he putts from some ridiculous places.

Definitely a wedge and you see him walking out with his putter and you think "no chance". Inevitably miles short.

But you've already had the answer I'd give to the question!

Scottie having an absolute meltdown on the 16th and having a right old pop at his caddie Ted Scott.

Never seen him chuck his toys out the pram like that before.

Just like @The Year Of The Foxhis purple patch has gone and he hates the game again

No. Only strokes taken from the green (regardless of club used) count as a putt.

Quality. Keep yourself out of trouble at any level (low, mid or high handicap) and you'll score better.

Hit as many GIR as possible.

Something my coach talks about and something I'd love to try is playing with no pins. Objective is just hit every GIR, law of averages says you'll hit one close and see what you score for 9 holes...

Maybe one day!

If you’re ever playing behind someone you know…. ask them to leave the flag out.

I read yesterday that on average this saves about 9 strokes per round, as you are forced to aim for the centre of the green.

In for an exciting finish at the Memorial as well as the Women’s US Open by the look of it. Fleetwood & Hull double would be lovely.

Last few holes are tough to find a birdie on

maybe just one of the five will nick one and get home

Phil Mickleson continues to ruin his legacy in the game after being kicked out of his local club for 'inappropriate contact' with a female employee.

There's been so many rumours about him over the years (including sending a dick pic to Pat Perez' wife) and his obscene gambling habit and out of control ego have made him deeply unpopular among his peers.

Plus all the LIV stuff and political crap he spouts on Twitter to add into the mix, I don't see where he goes from here.

Could have been an all time legend of the game but fvcked it all by his own doing.

Knob.

So many golfers I like for the US Open this week:

Matt Fitzpatrick

Fleetwood

McIlroy

Giving us a strong chance of a European winner

Home crowd:

Scheffler obviously

Burns

Cam Young

Gotterup

Outsider shout at 100/1 I like Gary Woodland, won a US Open before at Pebble which is exposed and windy like Shinnecock will be. Also won already this year and posted two other top 10s.

I quite fancy Rose this week who has the patience and discipline to do well around there.

My 100/1 outside bet is Cam Smith. After a few years of buyers remorse on LIV he's now finding some form and his short game is right up there with the best.

Looking forward to it and just hope we're talking about the players and not the USGA losing the course again.

Some rain about tomorrow morning in New York with a stiff breeze throughout ( still steamy though)

the morning starters Thursday then have the strongest of Fridays breeze pm

Rory and Tommy out early and Rosie,  Raj and Fitz are late.  Rough looks v tough but fairways are wide. I’ll say that Rosie and rai are best suited of the British players

Understand you going for Rose but I didn't know until I looked that his recent US Open record is horrible, missed 5 out of the last 6 cuts.

Yeah Rose has got a wierd record at the US Open. Either seems to top 10 or MC.

Think he was T10 last time it was at Shinnecock in 2018 so hopefully a good fit for him.

Agree with you that Tommy and Fitz could be in the mix this week plus the usual US suspects. Got a sneaky feeling for Hovland too who's starting to show a bit of form.

Bottom line is any of about 50 players could realsitcally win it. Just hope it's Brit or European!
