Sunday 19th 2026 could go down in history as the greatest sporting day ever.

Tommy Fleetwood walks up the 18th at Birkdale to a homecoming hero's ovation as he wins the Open.

Then England beat France in the WC final to bring it home.

Just imagine.....

I'm sorry sir, we are out of the foie gras and Chateaubriand ...

Instead, may I offer you France beat England in the meaningless consolation,

then a medium-rare Obnoxious Yank LIV c*** with a jug of claret?

Big Bryson throwing his toys out of the pram  over a potential  2 shot deduction.

From the BBC.

There is a report that Bryson DeChambeau has said he won't play the rest of the Championship if he gets given a two-shot penalty.

2 shot penalty for improving his lie.

Looked to me like he was dancing all over the fescue to flatten it down but maybe I'm saying that because I've always thought he's a fake **** (and he's a Trump lover)

Really tricky one to call from the camera angle we’ve seen. But did seem very exaggerated movements through the rough on his line of play, so he was asking for trouble really.

Looks to me like he was not being as careful as he should have been to ensure the lie/area of intended swing was not improved.  Doubt,  even he is  daft enough to refuse to play on.

He's stomping around like an Elephant on the grass behind the ball as soon as he sees it. He knows he can't get a club on it.

Definately helps his swing path to the ball so no doubt for me.

I used to really like him and watch his YouTube channel until he had that orange **** on.

There will be hundreds of club golfers playing tomorrow who will be breaking the rules of golf through ignorance rather than cheating. it is astounding how many who play do not know even the most basic of rules.

Whilst it is amazing how many tour pros have a lack of knowledge of the rules, I'm sure most of them know about improving your lie. That is undoutably what De Chambeau did, albeit probably accidentally, & the ruling is correct.

Well done to the R&A for upholding their standards & integrity. No doubt they will get slaughtered by the idiots on social media, who think De Chambeau is some kind of God. Personally if I never see him again I'll be delighted

I'm a double digit weekend hacker and even I know you can't trample grass down around your ball.

Doesn't stop me doing it from time to time if the golfing gods start taking the piss though! lol

The one I see the most is the classic misuse of the local rule for stroke and distance off the tee to speed up play. Guy hits into thick rough under some trees. "you gonna hit a provisional just in case?" "Nah I saw where it went. I'll just drop one if I can't find it". Continues to look for and not find his ball and so drops another ball and takes his next shot for 3. I however don't want to get too pissy and tell him it should be 4 not 3. Especially as he plays off 28 and isn't gonna win any way.

Saw a video of Clark doing something similar yesterday (in a scenario with light fescue) where he steps across behind his lie to take a practice swing

less obvious but no reason whatsoever to do it. Players will obviously not be doing that today !
