Dylan Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 Hi, Looking to get a new phone, hopefully an iPhone. For people who have/had either/both models, is there much difference between the two, and if so, what? In limbo about which one to get, obviously the 5 is newer so will be slightly better, but I'm contemplating whether its worth paying £5/6 a month more? Any help/input would be appreciated, thanks.
marko Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 Have a look at the Samsung phones; they're very good.
Carl the Llama Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 Get the Nokia 1662-2. Beast of a phone.
stevelcfc Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 I have the Sony Xperia S which is beastly and better than the 4S but the Xperia Z is out at the end of the month and spec wise nothing out there can beat it.
Daggers Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 I have a Sony Xperia S and it's a sack of shit compared to the iPhones.
DorsetFox9 Posted 16 February 2013 Posted 16 February 2013 iPhone 5, dont entertain the 4s, its outdated and has a poor battery.
Carl the Llama Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 iPhone 5, dont entertain the 4s, its outdated and has a poor battery. A piece of technology not even one and a half years old is 'outdated'. I despair for us all.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 iPhone 5, dont entertain the 4s, its outdated and has a poor battery. Aren't the batteries very similar with the 4S being slightly better, as the 5 using more because of its larger screen?
HEGGSY Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 Get the 4S. Cheaper. The same battery life. It may be the older version but the feature on the 5 don't do the extra money justice. If you want a bigger screen, then by all means, go for it, if you can't stand to wait an extra second because of the 4S older processor, then go for it, if you're desperate for an extra row of icons go for it. If not get the 4S, it's far from outdated . I have a 5, I know lol, it was an upgrade, don't hate me I have a Sony Xperia S and it's a sack of shit compared to the iPhones. Off to eBay Daggers iphone 4 for less than £150 now
DorsetFox9 Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 A piece of technology not even one and a half years old is 'outdated'. I despair for us all. really, its 3 years, little difference between the 4 and the 4s. Get the 4S. I have a 5, I know lol, it was an upgrade, don't hate me Off to eBay Daggers iphone 4 for less than £150 now My battery on the 5 seems to last a hell of a lot longer and doesn't run hot.
DorsetFox9 Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 i would either go with the 4 or 5, literally no difference in the 4 and 4s, at the time 4s had Siri, but now they all do and the processor is very similar. my better battery life could be down to iOS being optimised. i has serious problems with the 4s lasting no longer than 2 hours usage, or 6 hours standby. the 5 gets 10 hours usage and 3 days standby, sometimes longer if i don't use it much.
thewarmanator Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 I upgraded from 4s to 5 and the only differences are the battery on the 5 is better but still not great. The screen quality is a fair bit better. It's lighter and faster. That's pretty much it so I would say it didn't justify the price
SystonFox Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 i have an iphone 4s and i'm not that fussed about upgrading to a 5. i used to have a 3GS which was a bit knackered so i upgraded to 4S but as the 4S is fine i'll stick with it. depends on the type of person you are. if you're wanting to keep up with the Jones' then get a 5 and be the man, if you're not that fussy and just want a decent, reliable phone then get a 4S
FoxesAreBlue Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 Still on a 3GS, apart from the from facing camera on 4, 4s and 5 I have seen no reason to update yet, a slightly better screen and 1 second faster isn't enough wow factor for me yet. Someone offered me a 4S fr £80 the other day and I still turned it down - literally no need for me to upgrade and the £80 is better in my pocket next to the 3GS! so in my opinion the OP should go for the cheapest option if he wants an iPhone. That said. If my phone broke, so I had to replace... I would buy the latest model (5).
FoxesAreBlue Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 All iPhones are overpriced and overhyped. I agree that they can be expensive at first but I have used mine pretty much every day for 3 years solid now now both for work and play. No other phone I have had has lasted this long before being changed. In terms of £/usage this must be by far the best value phone I have ever had. Thanks for your constructive input anyway.
Rocket-Ron Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 Buy an i5 and then wish you'd have waited for the i6. It's the apple owners way of doing things
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 17 February 2013 Posted 17 February 2013 Nokia Lumia, whatever the best one is. I'm loving Windows Phone
