Are Nigel's signings any better...

Recommended Posts

Than players from many other Championship sides? He has spent in the region of 10-12 million on players but we still seem to be struggling against sides with limited resources and far less financial backing than ourselves. Or is it just a case of a complete loss in confidence that is causing us to be so poor? Do we also think that another manager could have spent the money any better?

Well these are the same players that were playing teams of the park at other stages in this season so I don't think it's a complete lack of quality.

Fatigue, loss of confidence, not enough leaders? I really don't know? Extraordinary collapse whatever it is

They were more than good enough till February, you'd have backed City against anyone in the league when Wood first arrived.

Something has clearly gone down that's lost Pearson the dressing room and/or destroyed the team's confidence, a new manager who can motivate and inspire could make the team add up to the sum of its parts again.

Vardy - 1million

Morgan - 1million

De Laet - 750k

Whitbread - free?

Futacs - free

Wood- 1 million

Marshall - 750k

Drinkwater - 750k

Knockaert - 1.5million

around 7million. But he has made more than that by selling players. Also every single one of his signings but Vardy will be sold for a profit

the problem is not so much the cost of the signings, he's been told to cut the wage bill becasue of the ffp rules.

with less money than sven he's achieved more, BUT:

the problem is that right now his signings are not playing as a team, and he can't seem to motivate them.

He's spent less than he's received.

He's also done so with having to massively reduce the wage bill.

This isn't like he's been given £7m to improve the team, he's had to wheel & deal to get it whilst massively reducing the number of players and the wages of the players.

We're higher in the league at the same stage over the respective seasons.

They're all young and have sell on values too

So, yes the signings are considerably better.

I don't think there will be many clubs in the summer rushing to sign our youngster!!

I thought Wood was 2 million, Knockaert 2 million, James and De Laet 2 million for the pair!

Vardy 1.7 million including ad-ons

I think De Laet is alright but Naughton who Sven bought on loan was significantly better imo.

Agreed
