Tony Pulis leaving Stoke

Nobody would even care if Stoke just ceased to exist. Not even just the football club, the whole place.

I can't see anyone decent wanting to go to Stoke to replace him, the fans' expectations were dangerously deluded towards the end of Pulis' tenure and the club has a reputation for poor football. I think they've gone as far as they can.

Relegation next season methinks.

As for Moyes' impossible job taking over at United, whoever goes here will have it even tougher. They'd need at least 2 or 3 years to teach that bunch of hoofing morons how to play football, or a fully new squad of about 20 players. Either way it won't work. And nobody can play that Pulis way as well as Pulis so if they just tried to carry on the fans would get even angrier cos it'd still be horrendously boring but they'd be even shitter.

Agree.

Pulis' style of football is a relic and the number of managers able to instil that style of play at the top level is tiny.

They busily built a physical, long ball side that could only really achieve any kind of success in Pulis' 'style.'

You didn't see Derby in the 07/08 season then.

At least that was entertaining because they were happy to let the other team score as many as they wanted. Stoke actually try to draw 0-0 every game.

I'm not a Stoke fan but I never minded them in the Premier League at all. Who says every team has to play beautiful football? It's nice to see contrasting styles of play. Besides--although Stoke have been poor lately--it was kind of refreshing to see them play visiting teams that tried to play too cute of a game get kicked off the pitch.

If I was a Stoke fan and I saw Swansea coming to the Britannia playing their kind of football I'd be livid with the kind of football Stoke try to play.

Not every team is capable of playing beautiful football, but every team should try to be entertaining, especially if you're not the kind of club who's going to win trophies.

I've hated watching them in the Premier League, they were boring and dirty when they went up and they've continued to be boring and dirty in the top flight.

Benitez: Valencia, Liverpool, Inter, Chelsea.

Stoke.

Somehow I doubt it. Stoke could struggle next season, Pulis' football wasn't pretty, but it was effective. With the group of players they have, including a few oldies, I doubt anyone could do a better job. Their hopes next season will pin on whether they can keep the likes of Shawcross and Begovic now that Pulis is leaving.

It's not even that effective. What they are now is the best they'll be playing like that - you could argue that means it IS effective but with the money they've spent they could be a far better side.

Alan Pardew is now apparently the second longest serving manager in the Prem. Jesus

That is beyond depressing, assume Wenger is longest, can't think of anyone else who's been at a club longer Than Pardew, other than Pulis, but assuming this is true than it is horribly depressing.
