fazzyfox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Just heard Pulis is leaving Stoke. I thought he had a committment to them that he made in Church, "To grab and to hold from this day forward (or midfielder or defender)" Talk about hoof ball, he even has a centre half called hoof. The premier league managerial all change continues........
Happy Fox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 *Waits for HappyFox to put 'NPs next job, perhaps'* Well he is a hoofball expert so he would fit right in! Only joking who will take over hopefully not MON.
ousefox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Certainly is all change in the Prem next season. Agree that Pulis probably wouldn't be able to take Stoke any further, but wonder if any manager can. Wouldn't be surpised to see them go next season. On an unrelated note, i thought it was a bit bad of Pulis to only give Owen 15 mins on Sunday. Could have started him or at least given him half an hour in his last game.
AKCJ Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 LIVE ODDS: Next Stoke City boss: Sir Clive Woodward 3/1 Martin Johnson 9/1 Lawrence Dallaglio 12/1 Warren Gatland 25/1 Jonny Wilkinson 50/1

ousefox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Alan Pardew is now apparently the second longest serving manager in the Prem. Jesus
ealingfox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Top, Vichai etc, if you're reading this, don't even think about it. Seriously.
Soar Fox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Done a fantastic job at Stoke and like Watson said, I can also see them being relegated next season. Some of our fans moan about his style of play, but I wouldn't mind 4 consecutive mid-table finishes, an Fa Cup final appearance, and an impressive run in the Europe.
RowlattsFox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Don't know why but think this has got MON all over it. Unless they want a complete change of style. Think they'll find it difficult to attract certain managers due to reputation.
Dan Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 But could he have done it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke?
Happy Fox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Adam Leventhal â€@AdamLeventhal 17m Someone in the game told me a week ago that Tony Pulis would be replaced by Rafa Benitez at Stoke. Plot thickens.

Happy Fox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 If MON goes to Stoke I would cry, we are a bigger club than Stoke inbred Shitty.
sdb Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Benitez won't go there imo. Did a great job there but they've been (even more) awful in 2013. They'd have gone down next year with him. Like Taylor with us. I think Stoke get an unfair amount of abuse for being a dirty team. I don't think they're that bad, just very direct (& increasingly dull).
Daz93 Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Benitez: Valencia, Liverpool, Inter, Chelsea. Stoke. Somehow I doubt it. Stoke could struggle next season, Pulis' football wasn't pretty, but it was effective. With the group of players they have, including a few oldies, I doubt anyone could do a better job. Their hopes next season will pin on whether they can keep the likes of Shawcross and Begovic now that Pulis is leaving.

In terms of horrible challenges etc they're among the worst but perhaps not far and away the worst, however their routine for defending corners and set-pieces is an absolute disgrace.
Super_horns Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Be ironic if they get a manager who plays football the "right way" but then go down.
mannyzlcfc Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 News from Talksport is that he's set to leave Stoke, rumours that Brighton look favourite.... Would you want him here. I for one wouldn't.

Their hopes next season will pin on whether they can keep the likes of Shawcross and Begovic now that Pulis is leaving. Very debateable. Their insistence on sticking with such horrible football has been to their detriment. I don't know how anyone can watch Swansea win a cup and finish 9th this season and suggest Pulis' style of play is effective. A solid defence has been their strength, but they never built on it and have stagnated. They did not develop as a team and that's why they've gone backwards. They've been sussed out, they're a one trick pony. I had no problem with their negative tactics when they first came up, it's needs must after all, staying in the league is the most important thing. But they never even attempted to become a progressive team or entertain anyone, it's not really an excuse to say they're a small club, smaller clubs have stayed up and started to play better football and it hasn't cost them, I've said Swansea, but even teams like Fulham as well. He has done a good job there, but I don't blame the Stoke fans if they're fed up with him. He won't be missed by neutrals, not only for his football, but his whinging about referee favouritism and decisions whilst refusing to take responsibility for his own players cheating/dirty play.
