indierich06 Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 Alright fellow FTers. I'm back in Leicester this weekend with the Mrs to visit my family and we're all going out for dinner on Saturday night - just wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere?I've not been out for dinner in Leicester for about 2 years, as I live in London now. Where's good? Don't want to spend a fortune, but don't want to go anywhere too cheap either... probably about £15-£20 a head?
Mack Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 I'm also after advice on Indian Restaurants on the Golden Mile. Is there one stand out restaurant? Or is the best in Leicester elsewhere?
notnow john Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 The Moghul Durbar is ok, but there's always groom for improvement.
Bayfox Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 Barcalonetta on queens road if you like tapas, should cost you more than £15 a head if you share the dishes between you.
Wymsey Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 Zizzi's? (Granby Street, or the one in the Highcross) - offer both vegetarian and unvegetarian foods.
SystonFox Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 for curry it has to be The Grand Durbar on melton road near the police station. or 1573 in the high cross area of town is a very good steak restaurant. very very good,

If you like vegetarian food which is oriental with spicy, as well as Indian - Bobbi's or Indigo's. If you want a traditional Indian meal - the 'Grand Durbar' has the best reputation (been there longer than others on Melton Road). Apparently the 'Feast of India' (one of the newer restaurants) has also got good reputation too.
SystonFox Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 Feast of india is one of those buffet all you can eat types and i genuinely find although the quality of ingredients is decent the quality lacks because it is mass produced and left out to keep warm. the best all you can eat buffet for me is Terracotta (chinese food) again its in the town centre. always very busy so book in advance

danny. Posted 24 May 2013 Posted 24 May 2013 Mem Saab is very good and around your budget if you don't have too much, also would recommend Taps - both the food and service there are surprisingly amazing, especially for the price (although not 100% if they serve on Saturday nights, but they definitely do in the week)
