Guest MattP Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 Pele wasn't even that good by today's standards. Even if you look at his world cup highlights: One amazing goal in the final, one headed goal in the final, a few goals that were nothing special, one casual sideways pass under no pressure, one good dummy topped off by missing a sitter and one attempt from the halfway line that went wide. You can't compare him to the likes of Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane or Cruyff. Or even Garrincha who played with him at the time, or some of the 80s Brazil players. But I'm going a bit off topic now. 100% spot on.
Richard Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 100% spot on. And wasn't his "1000 goals" total including all goals he scored aged 14 and over or something ridiculous like that
HEGGSY Posted 26 July 2013 Posted 26 July 2013 Pelé ! One the most overrated footballers in history. Best ever? Nowhere near.
Jordan Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 There are some seriously bad opinions in this thread. Some things in this thread are hilarious And those posts came even before this pearl of wisdom: Pele wasn't even that good by today's standards. There has been a lot of nonsense typed in this thread, but that really takes the biscuit.
Kitchandro Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 And those posts came even before this pearl of wisdom: There has been a lot of nonsense typed in this thread, but that really takes the biscuit. No it doesn't. He's massively overrated in today's game. He probably wouldn't get in my best ever 11.
AKCJ Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 6) Escape To Victory Pele Prediction: During the famous film starring Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine, Allies star Pele is brutally fouled in the first half by the Nazi opponents. The injured Brazilian claims there is no way he can continue and is carried off. The Allies are 4-0 down, and a recovery is deemed impossible. Outcome: Pele returns in the second half and inspires his team to an improbable comeback, even scoring a stunning bicycle kick. Even in fiction, Pele's predictions go wrong. lol lol
MPH Posted 27 July 2013 Posted 27 July 2013 I don't get why it wouldn't work out. Why can't two great players play in the same team? financial? Just guessing as I don't know the state of their finances... but im sure they get paid a lot!
