Ric Flair Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 not very fookin secret is it? They even had the cheek to advertise it in the paper for an open day!
Zingari Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 They even had the cheek to advertise it in the paper for an open day! It must be a double bluff . like when we used to use inflatable tanks and stuff to fool the enemy . Our boys aren't daft
SystonFox Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 i am in a similair situation. i was in a dead end job for 8 years and i was "part of the furniture". i wanted to move up in the company but as someone has said i was far too good at my actual job they couldn't afford to lose me in that field. so i started applying for jobs and got an interview with a big company. the job involved nationwide work similar to the job i was in and i was happy to do it but i just fell short to another bloke but would be considered if another vacancy came up. i carried on searching for jobs and finally landed a role in a new company as a Rental Service Technician. it is based in the 3 Leicester hospitals and the service centre is 1 mile from my home. the pay is a good deal more than what i was paid before plus bonus and plenty of over time! its a real cushty job that i really enjoy. i have been there for 9 months now and i think i can go places within the company. however ; the previous company have rang me this week and they want me to work for them. its an even bigger pay increase than what i am now earning, company car, private healthcare, plenty of overtime and the like but now it's a problem that it's nationwide work and i don't really fancy doing it as i am due to get married next february and then me and my mrs want to have a child and i dont really like the idea of being away 5-6 days per week while my mrs is at home alone all week. but then again the money on offer may be too good to turn down. if anyone can offer opinion i would appreciate it

The dough you currently earn is it enough to have a kid and give it the life you want it to have? If life's going to be a struggle and you can't ramp yourself up with benefits then you'll have to try and get a john with extra pay. You sound like you know what you're doing so this offer is hardly a once in a lifetime offer. I'd stay put.
Captain... Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 Try as I might at 10:16 US time I can't follow that. To be honest I can't comprehend that what ever the time. In the end, it's impossible to advise someone without all the facts and innuendo of the circumstances, so I should probably have said nothing Sorry I was on my phone, predictive text, should be paid shit.

You know the figures you can work it out. Because even when you are away and not on site or in the office you are still working or you still feel like you're working because you're not at home relaxing. If you've never worked in that way before I can tell you it can be very demanding, you save a fvck load of money (assuming your expenses while you're away are covered) but being away a lot is tough.

I've done it a lot and it does get to you, cost me one relationship, you also end up drinking a lot more than you would normally, would you be travelling on your own or with work mates? There are positives as you save a packet, but if you would be doing it all week every week then it would have to be a major incentive to get me to do it.
SystonFox Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 At times working alone and at times with a colleague. I think my mind was made up before I posted. Discussed it with my best mate and even him being money obsessed he agrees I'm best off staying put. A bit of extra cash is always nice but the other sacrifices would be too big. Cheers fellas
Rincewind Posted 7 September 2013 Posted 7 September 2013 You could mention it a couple of moths down the line with the boss over drinks. Just mention casually that you had a chance of a similar job with more money but thought your prospects were better staying with a better boss.
