Meltonfossefox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Another pub convo about when you were most proud away from home (usually by looking at the faces of the away fans as we all pile in).....for me charlton away last game of season (when they were playing home games at west ham) I had heard 4000 which I didn't think would happen...I think it ended as 12 and they had to open the closed section of the ground...well city boys decided to open it themselves great day
newbie123 Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Forest 2-3 LCFC hands down due to me getting a last minute ticket (friday night) then going on walshies bus and finding myself sitting with him after the game eating chicken nuggets.
Kitchandro Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Didn't go to Forest or Norwich which were probably the best of the last few seasons. Preston when we qualified for the play-offs was fantastic. Quite easily the best away trip I've been on I'd say.
Munshi Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 All of them, regardless if its Carlisle away or Liverpool away, nothing beats an away day.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Southend 2009, Cardiff in the play-offs for 15 minutes in 2010 and the Chelsea 3-4 in 2007 stand out for me, having not been to Forest 13 or Norwich 12. But the stand out by far for me was QPR 2009. Two Fryatt goals at a time when he was on fire, Friday night, beating a QPR side who'd scored something like 12 in the previous 3 home games and going second after about 15 games straight after promotion. Oh and 3 of my mates are QPR season ticket holders. Sweet.
Meltonfossefox Posted 13 September 2013 Author Posted 13 September 2013 Pompey play-off semi played at forest in the Trent end....sorry red dogs but I was bursting for a crap
1972 Fox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Wimbledon away, 1997 League Cup SF 2nd leg at Selhurst Park. Has to be one of the best ever City awaydays IMO.
Meltonfossefox Posted 13 September 2013 Author Posted 13 September 2013 Yeah forest 2 Leicester 3....never forget that day...I'm in Leicester royal with my 4 week old son who was in intensive care...he had the op results were great so things looking up, needless to say footy wasn't even on my mind but after spending days sleeping on a single bed in that room with my partner and we were so happy he was ok I decided to put radio on to listen the game at 14:45pm (not realising it was early) ...hearing all these goal replays I assumed it old replays during build up to the game...until I heard knockhart replay...I quickly turned phone ( as I obviously could give a sh1t for the outside world at that time) to find about 20 text messages lol started off the worst and ended one of the best Days of my life hearing replays of a game I never watched or heard.....will tell my boy that story one ay..your dad cried and woke up the ward shouting and singing LCFC
Narborough_fox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Barnsley in the year that we went down to League One. Don't think it'll ever be beaten to be honest, 6,000 Leicester fans singing their hearts out was amazing and I seriously believed we'd be staying up!
jonthefox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 When we took 8k to forest was a good day. A crap game, but a good day .
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Fulham, 1983, should be a game that makes anyone from Leicester proud. Don't know what the actual 'travelling attendance' was, (rumoured between 10-14k). Whatever it was it was great to be part of!! Plenty of others too....one of my personal favourites was Pompey 2002, just after the 'administration' had become public. They were top of the league and flying. We were broke but went there and absolutely took them apart in the rain and 1500-2000 Foxes totally outsang them for the whole 90 mins despite being soaked to the skin in their crappy, uncovered, 'away' end! I was there at Fulham, one of my best away days. The blue army traveling back up the M1 that night was awesome. There were thousands of us. My absolute best game was wembley beating Derby tho.
cambridgefox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Wimbledon away, 1997 League Cup SF 2nd leg at Selhurst Park. Has to be one of the best ever City awaydays IMO.Same with me.What a night,I was chain smoking, but the relief, joy and atmosphere.
Meltonfossefox Posted 13 September 2013 Author Posted 13 September 2013 I remember that night......we made the where's the money gone fanzine as we hired a minibus for 12 but only 4 of us turned up so ended up splitting cost between 4. Got into London at 12pm for an 8 pm ko. Don't think I've ever drunk as much as I did that ay

Don't think I've ever drunk as much as I did that ayi was smashed. My mate lived in Shoreditch and City fan thanks to me and we met up lunchtime. His boss wouldn't let him go early so my only choice was to stay in the pub with his flat mate who was bar manager giving me free beers. The hot tube in rush hour after a skinful was not good .
Meltonfossefox Posted 13 September 2013 Author Posted 13 September 2013 Grayson if I remember right Same with me.What a night,I was chain smoking, but the relief, joy and atmosphere.
Meltonfossefox Posted 13 September 2013 Author Posted 13 September 2013 From the sounds of it boys, south London pubs did well out of us that day
cambridgefox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Grayson if I remember rightThere is a YouTube video of it.
Simo86 Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Pompey when we lost 6-1 was brilliant except for the football occurring on the pitch
Harry - LCFC Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Forest of course, for the whole game I never really felt we were going to do it and then, we did. Aside from that, Portsmouth away 10/11 season. Started at 5:00, ended at 11:00. Some great fun in between with two mates.
65RosesFox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Chelsea 2007 Carling Cup. Even though we lost 4-3 the atmosphere and the game was incredible. Out sang the Chelsea fans and didn't stop singing all night.
newbie123 Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 When we took 8k to forest was a good day. A crap game, but a good day . brill. we had more fans than them, i remember saying how poor it was that forest only got 16,000 and then so did we in the replay. i was there both games though.
Harry - LCFC Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 brill. we had more fans than them, i remember saying how poor it was that forest only got 16,000 and then so did we in the replay. i was there both games though. There were 10,000 of their fans at the City Ground and 14,000 of our fans at the KP. Difference in away followings skewed the attendances.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 Norwich and Southampton in 2012 were brilliant days out. QPR away in 2009. Chelsea & Fulham in 2007, both great games and atmosphere (although we did screw up badly at Fulham). Reading away in 2005 in the FA Cup. The atmosphere for all of the above was truly immense and I love nothing more than being at Leicester games like these.
Dan0305 Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 Charlton fa cup 5th round, dion scoring in the last min to send us through. Also the next round, Blackburn away. Took 8,000 that day, s*** game and we lost, but we pretty much took over Blackburn that dat
