Can't agree with that. If you don't have a good reason for voting for a party then you absolutely shouldn't be voting. If you've only just reached an age where you can vote and don't feel you know enough about politics to make an informed decision then you shouldn't be voting. Of course my response to Fox92 was tongue in cheek because he intends to vote for an absolutely repulsive party, but to say that everyone should vote encourages people to vote for the wrong reasons and I don't agree with that.

Why's that? He said he doesn't want the Country in the EU which is good enough for me.

Just sick to death of the usual rubbish that labour and tories pipe up, get it then take no action.

As usual though, I won't be voting.

Conservatives, no other option.

Labour aren't currently a serious political party.

Lib Dems can go back to being a fringe party.

Don't really see what anyone sees in UKIP beyond some nationalistic anti-europe but not sure why type of sentiment

If being anti Europe is a big issue they are the only party, the Tories are a big let down on this for me.

Then spoil your ballot paper, its still a statement.

Libertarian. their the closest to what I advocate. a vote for Tory, labour, Lib dem etc is a vote for more force and coercion, more destructive counterfeiting and more soft Fascism designed to benefit the politicians and their mates that run the monopolies and cartels they helped create.

That's the problem, you'd be happy to see the entire country in the hands of a party you know nothing about. You'd be voting for them based on that one policy and you'd be accepting several horrible policies they support. For the love of God go and look at what they actually stand for before you decide that they're best for the country.

What if you don't want to make a statement. What if you simply don't think you know enough to make a sensible decision, what's the point of spoiling your ballot then? What does that achieve?

Having the right to vote is great and I don't agree with arguments that you shouldn't vote because 'it doesn't matter who you vote for', but if you genuinely don't feel like you have a reason to vote for a party then you shouldn't feel obligated to do so.

UKIP is full of racists these days. All the BNP voters jumped to them.

Knew this would happen.

UKIP call for withdrawal from the EU and greater restrictions on immigration, which I like to hear. That certainly isn't racist.

This is true. I'm not deeply interested in politics, so I just judge them on whatever they say when they're broadcast on tv. I think most of the Country does.

I'm not voting though, calm down. I doubt I ever will.

I do disagree with a couple of things - they don't want a third runway at Heathrow, for example.

Balanced arguement there.

If you can put together a coherent and respectable argument as to why we should leave the EU, then you're intelligent enough to realise that UKIP are a bit of a joke, imo. One skim read of their policies should be enough to put most people off.

Unfortunately (and unsurprisingly) the people who intend to vote for them don't even seem willing to do that. :(

You should feel obligated too, its a freedom millions worldwide would love. It's nothing short of lazy not too.

What an absolute load of bollocks. The BNP had big support in Lancashire, if anything the BNP voters are going back to Labour.

UKIP are still the only party that bans ex BNP members.

Millions worldwide would love to have the right to vote, they wouldn't enjoy being forced to vote quite as much.

If, like Fox92, you're not that interested in politics and not willing to look at the policies of different parties then it's better for everyone that you choose not to vote.

This is why ill move back to the Tories come 2015.

I'll vote UKIP next year to send a message to the EU but on domestic and economic policy they have become far too much like Labour for my liking.

It's a protest vote at none of the other parties respecting the issue. The other policys are unimportant as they will never hold enough power for it to count.

I have looked at the different policies of UKIP. That's it though.

And I'm guessing most people in the Country vote without knowledge.

As I've said several times though, I won't be voting at all.

I'll be honest I don't particularly like democracy as a decision making tool but it is about the best we can manage that safeguards against totalitarianism.

Not sure why UKIP get branded racist by some morons, what is racist about not wanting to be in the EU?

Do UKIP only have one policy then?

Posted

You've got some front to call other parties vulgar, repulsive etc when the one you are voting for instead led us into two wars that have cost the lives of around two million people.

You listen to them speak and you do become suspicious at times. But I do agree, not wanting to be in the EU is certainly not racist in itself.

Well since the Tories made it clear they would have led us into those wars as well, I don't see this as a valid argument. I'm also broadly supportive of the Afghan invasion at least from the moral standpoint.

Even the founder of UKIP says they are full of racists. Leaving the EU isn't racist in itself and no one ever claimed it was.

Well of course they were lied to with the evidence presented by the ruling party.
