Toon director of football Kinnear raved to City chiefs about midfielder Shane Ferguson during the club’s Capital One Cup tie against Swansea in September. But when he asked about signing him, Brum bosses thought he was winding them up – because Ferguson is on loan at St Andrews from Newcastle until the end of the season. Newcastle chiefs and manager Alan Pardew, who saw his side beat Chelsea 2-0 yesterday, were said not to be aware of Kinnear’s blunder. A City source told Sunday People Sport: “Ferguson had a particularly good game that night and Joe Kinnear told one of our officials he was interested in signing him. “At first our guy thought he was joking but then he realised Kinnear did not know Ferguson was already a Newcastle player.†The 22-year-old, who can play in midfield or at full-back, signed a five-year contract with Newcastle in 2011 but spent three months on loan at Birmingham last season. Blues boss and former Toon star Lee Clark agreed a deal in July to take the Northern Ireland international back on loan until the end of this season. His last Premier League appearance for Newcastle was last December in the 7-3 defeat at Arsenal.
Corky Posted 3 November 2013 Posted 3 November 2013 Just feel for the true fans up there who have put up with these "jobs for the boys" scenarios.

Jimothy Posted 3 November 2013 Posted 3 November 2013 that is just incredible, how embarrassed must he feel... He won't feel embarrassed at all, the bloke is a complete tool. Some of the claims he made when he rejoined Newcastle, including signing player that had been there long before he was, and that he has more links in the game than anyone else, the man has no shame.
