Stadt Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Playing no striker and a false nine thinking he's a managerial genius hahahaha what a plebI can just imagine him thinking that he's a cool, modern forward thinking maverick.
rico Posted 29 December 2013 Posted 29 December 2013 Shook hands with one of the Watford backroom staff today thinking he was the manager!
Mack Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 He looks completely bored and fed up. If I was Fulham / West Ham I'd go and get him now and have a go at avoiding the drop.
Dan Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 West Ham and Tottenham. Can you imagine him going back to West Ham, really? Don't think he's well loved down there. Given his Southampton/Portsmouth moves I don't think that bothers him at all. If the West Ham job comes calling (and I think it will) he'll be straight off. I'd probably rather see Derby go up this year than QPR. They represent absolutely everything wrong with the English game. Fair play, agreed, I don't think that justifies labelling him a wheeler-dealer though. I'm probably biased due to an unnatural dislike for the man. Van Der Vaart was a Levy signing I think. Can even remember Redknapp saying at the time. He looks completely bored and fed up. If I was Fulham / West Ham I'd go and get him now and have a go at avoiding the drop. Really though? QPR fell into that trap a year ago. The bloke's over-rated. Whilst he can occasionally come across well (and there honestly are times I find myself agreeing with him totally) there's something about him that I can't put my finger on that I'm really not keen on. I wouldn't swap Pearson for him, put it that way.

Between the Mittals, Briatore, Ecclestone & then Mark Hughes they amassed a bunch of overpaid mercenaries in the main that even Redknapp couldn't get to perform. Redknapp did'didn't deserve the rough treatment he got in the end at Spurs either, a team who he managed to get into that converted 4th spot prior to all the spending of AVB. I think he's one of the top Premier League managers out there, but I accept that's only my opinion and not a fact. p.s. If QPR dot go up this year not only will it be a massive underachievement but an even bigger FFP blow that may scupper the owner's plans long term.
Stadt Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 I remember Tony Fernandes saying that they would spend sensibly and that he had learned from his mistakes

Premiership quality players thrown tigether does not guarentee promotion out of this league. It's much harder to do it than that. The quicker they lose the overpaid egos they currently have the better their chances wull be. Their problem though is that Harry really only knows the premiership and its (arguably) better quality players, but you then have to pay them wages to suit. It's a million miles away from pearson and our backroom staff
ScouseFox Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Yeah last time they went up they had Taraabt but other than that they had Hill, Derry, Mackie, Shittu, Helgerson an Orr. Just championship nobodies who wanted to play well together. That gets you out of here, like we're finding out, like QPR found out, like Forest are finding out, like Derby are proving etc.

Team spirit is the biggest sole factor of getting out of this league i believe.

I agree they were an absolute shambles anyway, but he only went an added to it by spending something ridiculous on Samba & Remy and their improvement was minimal. Redknapp got ahead of himself regarding the England job. I do think he tailed off at Spurs because of it and in the end he lost out on both jobs. He was unlucky but he didn't help himself. For me he seems like someone who's very much in favour of throwing silly money at players who really aren't anything special and people continue to buy it time and time again. QPR's squad really isn't as brilliant as it looks. The majority of them are on the decline and I bet I wouldn't be wrong in saying that they're on far more than they're worth. I just think he's one of these who nowadays lives off hype rather than substance. He wasn't bad at Spurs but considering what he spent, I don't think he did an outstanding job at all.

Redknapp is overrated, he overspent at Pompey aswell and i think he was 50% of the blame for there downfall. Look at the players he signed at Pompey with high wages, Jermaine Defoe, Sol Campbell, David James, Peter Crouch, Milan Baros,... Spent alot a dosh at Spurs and did they win anything under him? QPR i think need to look to start again, bring in some young upcoming youngsters into the team, they've turned to much like us under Sven a team full of greedy high earners who honestly couldn't give a toss about the shirt they play for.
Fox92 Posted 30 December 2013 Posted 30 December 2013 Burnley as well from this season. Southampton and Norwich from past. Team spirit is the biggest sole factor of getting out of this league i believe. I've always said a team spirit/togetherness is more important than quality, to get out of this division. Of course, a little quality is obviously needed but 'average' players with somesort of spirit can get teams out of this league. Ask Reading, Blackpool, Hull, Southampton, Norwich and nearly every promoted side. I can only think of two teams that had quality, and that was Newcastle and West Ham. Not only did they add players, but they didn't lose a lot of their relegated squad. So, I always laugh and make this point when people say 'oh our team is average'.
