Traffic around Blues ground

Recommended Posts

Just a word of warning for those driving to the game tonight. Traffic in the area has been an absolute nightmare for the last few days so be prepared to sit in queues if you are coming off the Aston Expressway on to the A4540 which takes you down to the ground.

Experienced it from about 6 last night and took me 40 minutes to get around a mile and was nearly as bad when I had to do the same route at 1.30 this afternoon.

Hope it isn't too bad this evening

I live in the West Midlands and I heard a warning about the Ashton Expressway on the radio this morning.  I didn't really listen that closely because it is a long way from anywhere I go usually and I didn't make the link between this news and the Leicester game tonight.

Also, the M-69 was a total pain on Saturday.  Due to the traffic I went down the A-47 to Hinckley and got on there.

Anyone planning on going tonight should do a bit of research first.

Just had a quick look at Google Maps and if you go on the M-42 and get off at J-6, the A-45 (Coventry Road) takes you almost directly past the ground.  I don't know this end of Birmingham at all but a lot of the A-45 is dual carriageway so possibly not a bad option.

Probably be a fair bit of traffic though.

The a45 is a terrible road. It took me a hour and twenty from Warwick to Brum last week. Either way leave plenty of time.

It depends how bad the Ashton Expressway is going to be.

To be fair, I've ridden down the A-45 four times on a motorcycle and traffic wasn't a problem at all !!

Maybe different in a car.

Park at Star City, you come off at the junction before Aston. I think there's park and ride to the city centre or drive on past it towards the inner ring road/ where you are going to park

Ps the poker room in star city is crazy at times

Aston Expressway closed temporarily this morning but is open again now. Going into the City isn't normally too bad, although they reduce it to 2 lanes to allow cars coming out.

I live J5 off the 42. Wouldn't recommend the Aston Expressway if it can be avoided, never know what sort of traffic you may get. Especially if you are coming early during rush hour.

Good luck getting there and see you at the game
