Leicesterpool Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Maybe a one year deal, I suspect if we were promoted then Nige would look to bring in maybe a striker or two anyway. I have to admit though I somehow don't think Nuge would be much good to us in the premier While Vardy i feel as a bright future ahead of him! another Rickie Lambert i think Kev Phillips i can imagine may stick around for one more year but I don't think we'd see him so much, he'll be working more behind the scenes next year.
Spiritwalker Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 If we do get promoted we'll certainly have to strengthen the squad. However, IMO we should retain the core of the squad that gets us there - I believe that NP will want that, he strikes me as a person who is loyal to his players and expects the same of them. Whilst we may not have the best player in the Championship in every position we're performing well as a team, and we need to keep that attribute if we go up. So I hope that Nugent is offered a new deal, at least for long enough for him to prove if he can still cut it at that level. This sums up my opinion on the matter. I think Pearson will stick with his core squadd and add 4 or 5 to it. Thank fvck some of the fickle fans on here aren't running the team. If Nugent helps us to the Prem which would net us around 90m why would he sign a deal reduced terms?
LCCFox96 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Yes. One of the players with an abundance of quality in our squad. He's had a few bad games but has still scored plenty of goals. He has played all over the football leagues as well so knows each division. A good player to have in our armoury.
kingfox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I would keep him, but if we do get promoted, in my opinion he isn't a starter in the Premier League. We would need far better to stay afloat.
Corky Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Yes. Another year in the squad is what he's worth (despite the criticism, some justified, he's played a massive part in our position) and seems to be well liked in the set-up.
pazzerfox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I'd give him a 2 year deal, at least we would get some cash for him next January should he find himself not getting enough game time. He has been a good servant to us, always giving 100% with some vital goals and assists. ALL strikers miss chances across the country.
One Legged Beaver Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 It would be bizarre to say the least if the person who is our top scorer and top assister didn't get a renewed contract.
