Why on earth would Ramos go to Man Utd?

Ramos is reportedly really unhappy at Madrid... He's been linked numerous times that's the only reason I mentioned it otherwise would say he wouldn't go!

Big players want to be playing champions league football Lee. It might currently be just a blip but the signs are not encouraging for the future at all imo. Also Moyes doesn't really have any experience of many top class players. Not his fault but true all the same

Anyway, my view hasn't changed, seem to remember posting my views on Moyes at the start of the season, never rated him as a top manager, on what basis can you call him that? People constantly said he never had money at Everton, well he did. Andy Johnson £8.6million, Yakubu £11.25million, Fellaini £15million, Heitinga £6million, Bilyaletdinov £10million, sold Piennar for £3million to then spend £5million on resigning him, Per Kroldrup £5million and ****ing James Beattie £6million. Yeah don't get me wrong Moyes did a good job with Everton, but don't give me this crap he never had money, quite clearly did. Look how Martinez has got them playing now, he has taken them to a new level, why? Because Martinez is a coach.

 

This man-manager way of managing teams has gone I'm afraid. Ferguson was the last of his kind in the modern game, and he was a manager on a match day, he even admitted he would rarely be seen at the training ground last season, not until a Friday, Maulensteen and Phelan coached the players. Look at the top sides in the League now, all have coaches manager them, Pellegrini, Mourinho, Wenger, Rodgers and Martinez, time will tell with Sherwood on his style. 

 

Managers win games nowadays with their tactics and their style of play, not the former Man Untied way and the new adopted way of David Moyes, who is clearly in the dark ages and his Everton mentality has been installed at Old Trafford. No wonder players like Vidic and co are jumping ship, how can players like that who have won the lot be motivated by a manager who was happy to avoid relegation for many years, one top four finish and a few Wembley appearences? Seriously? 

 

In terms of managment and current style of play, Man United are quite far behind Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and even Everton.

Sorry - how do you think he got that money? You have heard of a thing called "net spend" haven't you? Of course you have, because Rafa Benitez used to drone on about it all the time.

 

Everton got £30 million for Rooney in 2004 near the start of Moyes' reign. They got £12 million for Rodwell 18 months ago. Your combined total there is £69 million. Those 2 players alone account for £42 million. A net spend of £27 million (acknowledging that neither of our lists of comprehensive) over 10 years is absolutely tiny in Premier League terms, particularly given that took Everton from perennial relegation candidates to perennial top 4 challengers.

 

If you've got to routinely sell your best players to bring in anybody new then it's obviously going to be more of a struggle than being handed the money on top of keeping your better players.

Moyes did routinely fail to spend the big money wisely (albeit Yakubu was fantastic for them before his injury), but of course his great skill was in the players he picked up for a pittance and turned into a formidable Premier League outfit:

 

Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Arteta, Pienaar and Cahill were all signed for less than £5 million each. Moyes has a proven track record of bringing players in and making a team greater than the sum of its parts. A legitimate query arises when asked about his record with big money transfers, but of those mentioned, I'd say Everton got great value out of Fellaini, decent value out of Yakubu and reasonable value out of Heitinga, Pienaar (who had just six months left on his contract when they sold him) and Johnson (who I always thought was pretty shit but had an ok record for them).

 

Oh, and just for the record, this time last year Everton were in the Quarter Finals of the Cup and were 6th, 6 points off 4th.

Yes but the simple fact is Lofty before he got there they'd had 6 years of doing nothing and barely surviving! If you're spending 5 million net in ten years after taking over the Everton side he did, and after being given time, deliver regular European football and top six finishes, you've done a good job. As I said, not nes top European club level sort of stuff  but to say it's not good management, just wrong.

 

But no arguments (although I remember Blackburns title defense which was arguable even worse) he's been woeful at United. The reason he's getting so long is because United wont rush to sack him due to the fact it took Ferguson three years of failure and dogs abuse from United fans before he eventually became arguable the greatest club manager of all time. If they had acted quickly with Fergie they could well be about 30 trophies lighter now. So that mentality  will say give him time. Plus, he was sort of handed poisoned chalice, that sides not very good.

Ok, I see what you're saying. Remember I'm a Liverpool fan who always has to hear about this Messiah in David Moyes, had it from Everton fans and now I've had it from Man United fans, two worse sets of fans!

 

I hope the United board stick with Moyes, because this season has been one of the best with their being so poor, his negativity and style of play is a joy to watch.
