nlukka Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 It's incredible to watch. Every player is giving 100% from start to finish. Right from the first whistle today Nuge chased down their defender and intercepted the ball. Vardy and Nuge must be a nightmare to play against. Keep it up boys Indeed, the amount of mistakes they force from the opposition is amazing. Even when they're not scoring, their overall play is integral to our style. It goes a long way to explaining why Chris Wood is restricted to cameo appearances when the game is won. He's by no means a bad player but our style/tempo undoubtedly changes when he comes on. I hope neither Vardy nor Nugent burn out in the final run-in, I think it's unlikely, but Nugent in the last two seasons did look knackered in the final third of the season.
Guest ttfn Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Do you remember when Beckford said he ran the 3rd most out of any City player? The defending from the front has been absolutely integral to our success this season - I haven't seen anywhere near that intensity from any other set of strikers this season

Nugent didn't score from January to the playoffs did he? He's scoring for fun still now. MOTM yesterday having a hand in all 3 goals. His was a quality finish
davieG Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 This illustrate why you shouldn't judge players too soon or put a new signing straight into the team, you have to give players time to adjust their game to the required style. Same goes for getting rid of managers. It also helps if the club has a consistent style of play at all levels and recruits managers that are comfortable with that. All makes it easier to slot new players in if you need to.
cc_star Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 His desire to win the ball back after he or anyone loses it is has increased hugely since last season. Another improvement to build upon and take praise from. Half the point of signing players of that age, they can grow with us. As they improve, we improve
Corky Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 And part of the reason why we force, and therefore profit from, so many defensive errors. You put pressure on them and they panic. All the players give absolutely everything, it's fantastic to watch.

James, Drinkwater and Knocky etc all of so much of their careers left to play but already look the dogs bollocks imo. Knocky still has a fair bit of learning to do but his raw talent is so exciting
Fox92 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Agreed. Only thing I ever ask for is for player's to put in 100%. Nugent and Vardy lead that from the front, defending from the front, it's great to see.
billyn88 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 His desire to win the ball back after he or anyone loses it is has increased hugely since last season. Another improvement to build upon and take praise from. I think it's only due to quite a few of the starting eleven being freakishly fit that he often doesn't get 90 minutes and looks tired in comparison. He's matured so much from this last season - that missed penalty could well turn out to be the making of him in a good way.
Narborough_fox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 One thing that sticks out for me was in the 2nd half when Hamer threw the ball out short and we did the equivalent of a Blitz on them! I think 4 players chased the ball as hard as they could and in the end it got passed back to Hamer who then just launched the ball up field. Was staggering workrate.
Buzzell Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Second to Vardy's work rate is Knockaert. I don't think some people see it, but Knocky works incredibly hard and always wants the ball.I was impressed by his work rate. He chased mostly every ball near him down and put his marker under pressure. Also nice to see him coming into the centre of the pitch looking for the ball. I remember him coming into our own half in the middle just to get on the ball and then make a simple pass.Love the lad
