Derby's defeat against Millwall on Saturday was their first against a bottom half team this season. Derby and QPR are only 7th and 8th against top half teams with Forest 3rd and Wigan 4th. Sheff Wed are a surprising 6th against top-half teams. Bournemouth are 5th in the table against bottom-half teams. Pretty useless information but it shows Leicester and Burnley usually play better against the better teams.

Not really been thee case this season, Sheff Wed is the only one that really comes to mind, the usual banana skins have failed to materialise thankfully!

Charlton were up there when we played them weren't they? either way the games we usually have to worry about we've done fairly well, just thank god we didn't have to go to Peterborough this year!
Fox92 Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 It was Charlton's first win of the season when they beat us, wasn't it? We shouldn't have lost that day, just like we shouldn't have lost at Doncaster. But these things happen in football.

OK, we lost to Charlton and Donny, but we thrashed Charlton and Millwall at home, and beat Yeovil away and Barnsley at home. Hardlystruggling against lower-half teams. Until tonight, that is...
Tom's Pasta Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Mentality has a lot to do with playing top/bottom half teams. Playing against Barnsley tonight, we're expected to dominate possession and boss the game which creates a different type of pressure to playing against promotion rivals. This season we have had dealt with it really well....... so far
Zapp Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I think part of it is our mentality, this season its been very much we score more than them A large part of our tactics in previous seasons has been that a clean sheet could be the difference So when we travelled before and went a goal down, our plan A was down the toilet, and the opponents gameplan worked perfectly. A bit like Watford at home when their plan was to score & hold on, and ours was attack. Suddenly when we were behind we simply had to carry on rather than reshuffle and impose the backup plan, which no doubt had less time spent putting into practice on the training pitch.
