MPH Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 He's been fairly solid, but hasn't really shone this season, for some reason.Think he shone last season because he was the standout class act. This season others have caught up with him. Also, he hasn't needed to bridge the gap so much so he's been able to focus on his own position... Also people keep banging on about pace.... Our best ever defenders ( during my life time) were walsh, Elliott and Taggart. Not a lick of pace between them. But as George Graham said at the time " running into Leicesters defense was like running into a brick wall". And arsenal were no mugs back then either so that was a huge compliment.. Pace can help get you out of a hole. But if you have the vision awareness and positional sense to not get in that hole in the first place then you'll be fine. And I think he will do just fine.
LCFC FOX Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Wes will still be captain next season. No doubt he will be the first name on the team sheet. Wes, Moore, Wasyl and a New CB will do me
GingerrrFox Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Outside of Aguero, Suarez, Sturridge, Van Persie, Benteke and Negredo there is nothing to fear for our centre backs. Steven Fletcher, Gary Hooper, Ricky Lambert etc are not much above Championship level.
Langston Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Do pacey strikers not exist at Championship level, or am I missing something?
Langston Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Think his age might've counted against him as far as England are concerned as they never seem to consider uncapped older players(lambert is the exception and he won't get many caps) Zamora? Bothroyd?
Dr The Singh Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 It's the intelligent movement, passing, quick thinking and first touch that he will have to over come. Don't want to right him off, he will have to raise his game
Corky Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Zak Whitbread was considered a competent defender in the Premier League with Norwich and look how he is viewed on here. Wes will be ok.
