Guest Bilo Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 The fact that we have been promoted in the first week of April is surely going to be an advantage to us? No other club of similar stature to ourselves is guaranteed a place in the Premier League next season, and this means that we can start planning and perhaps scouting for players immediately henceforth. Where should Pearson, Walsh and Shakespeare search first?
Donut Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Its a massive boost. Gives us a definitive idea on budget, and the fact we are so far ahead in the league i would assume would show players we are a serious outfit with a good chance of staying up and performing well in the Premiership. If the Vietto link has any truth behind it, it looks like our scouting system are casting the net far wider than we may think as well
LAprice_ Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I reckon we've been scouting Premier League quality players for a long time already. I'm sure Pearson said the club have been spending the last few years preparing for life in the Premier League.
Captain... Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Warnock said as much in his column, even though I'm sure NP and Co were planning for every eventuality, if we can get a few targets signed up early to pre contracts it really sets the tone.
Captain... Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 The down side is we will have agents ringing up everyday trying to flog their shit players to us.
MC Prussian Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 We surely have a bit of a head start compared to many other teams, so I can only assume Pearson and Walsh will be able to hold in-depth talks and then head over to the owners to get it all sorted financially. Except more shrewd signings for comparatively little money.
XLM Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Pearson likes moving quickly in the transfer market anyway. Good for new players to get a full pre season with us.
notnow john Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Weeks ago, Nige said they had a list. Yes, but he soon got us back on an even keel!
morris1234 Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 The fact that Pearson only wanted to pay 500k for Cornelius and Cardiff paid 8million..just makes me laugh! Be an interesting summer for sure!
Raw Dykes Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 The fact that Pearson only wanted to pay 500k for Cornelius and Cardiff paid 8million..just makes me laugh! Be an interesting summer for sure! What a disastrous signing that was! They sold him back at a huge loss at the earliest opportunity, too! Insane. It's a huge advantage to be officially promoted so early. We've got a head start, not only over our promotion rivals, but also over all the Prem clubs in danger of relegation! None of those clubs can really think about signings until they know for sure which division they'll be in next season, and they might not know for a while yet. I'm sure we'll have had a shortlist for either division for a long time. Now we can put the wheels in motion while our rivals have to sit and wait.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I'm sure some names have been pencilled in for some time now.
