I would but it's only 1gB and I've already got two of them so it's no improvement.

Is your page file set to ensure you're getting the most out of the two you currently have? :dunno:

I've just bought a 1gB memory upgrade opened the back of my PC to install it and there doesn't appear to be any spare sockets to put it in.

There's two sockets there but they've both got what looks like memory chips in them.

Ideas anyone?

What's the best way to ensure you're earthed when and if I get to install this memory.

Re: Earthing yourself

When I'm just messing about with RAM and drives and stuff I don't normally bother, put if I'm playing with processors or graphics cards:

I use one of these badboys

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Top settings (in Performance section) > Advanced > Change > Tick 'System Managed Size' > Set > Ok > Restart PC

Is that a XP route? I have Vista.

I don't believe it, it seems all my internet connection problems are no more... it's like the hamster powering it has had a shot of redbull and speed.

I was running Windows Professional with Service pack 2, I upgraded to Service Pack 3 and it's been given a new lease of life.

Thanks for everyones help in trying to resolve my issues

Right, it is a long shot but......

I'm listening to Trevor Nelson's radio show from last night on iPlayer Radio Console & there is a 10 minute Jaguar Skills remix that I want, but I won't be able to download it.

Is there any naughty programme I can get it off the internet that can help me get it, or is there no chance?

Done. :D

I've been having problems uninstalling/reinstalling some software, the last time this happened I was advised, by email by the supplier to remove some hidden/buried files relating to the programme. Unfortunately I also recently lost all my emails which included important ones like this this one.

All I remember it was something like 'regdit' does anyone know what it might be?

I can't contact the supplier a) because I've lost his email address and b) because he virtually told me to fook off as it wasn't their product they just sold it and I should contact someone in Taiwan or whatever it's called these days.

Signed

Yours extremely pissed off with anything to do with PCs.

Yeah regedit is the command to go into the registry. What you do in there though is up to you :P

You probably needed to delete the registry entries for the programme?

I have done and reinstalled it but it still doesn't work - I'm awaiting further advice from Taiwan.

Speakers on my computer keep fading in and out at random times.

Looked online on how to solve it manually.

Tried doing the following:

When computer power is off, move the speaker mounted volume control to full and back about 50 times. Apparently it shakes the dust off the copper wires which can interfere with the sound frequency or something.

This seemed to work for about a day and then the volume started to fade in and out again.

It's quite annoying because you can set the volume to a sensible level, all of a sudden it will fade out, so you turn it up, and after about 5 seconds you get a huge blast!!

So if there are any suggestions on how to fix this it would be thoroughly appreciated!!

Thanks

Somebody help me - How do I find out the password to my Speedtouch st585 v6.

Trying to connect my iTouch and I have no idea what the password is. Surely there is a way of finding out.

Tried 'password'? :dunno:

And that is just the router; who is your ISP (you can normally find out the default password from their website.... but that's no help if you've changed it!!)

Didn't work.

Tiscali I think. How would I go about finding that out?
