I would choose the NNB-703 and click on modify button and upgrade the processor to the Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz and upgrade the memory to 4gb then add Vista at the bottom. Very fast laptop then for about £670 with delivery.

Novatech have got awards for reliability and after care. You mentioned your impatient, and im the same! Hate slow computers. This one would last you for ages.

TuneUp utilities

Google it and download a trial, you can clean your registry, correct application errors and defrag your disk really easily.

It can also optimise your system settings.

What's your spec?

If you are running a 286 then you should be thankful it even boots up.

Just turned my laptop on and it had Football Manager left in the disk drive, It was making funny noise, As if it was trying to read the disk, but kept stopping and starting, then it made loud humming noise or a noise as if it was hitting something, so I took it out had a look at the disk, tried to have a look inside the 'tray' but couldn't see anything so had another go and the same thing happened. Anyone got any ideas to what is wrong?

(I have left my laptop standing on it's edge all afternoon, but i've done this in the past, seen other people do it, and if you put it in a laptop bag it would be left on it's edge. As far as I know it's took no knocks at all, apart from when I dropped it a few weeks ago but I was very lucky and had no ill effects from that drop and i've been playing on Football Manager since then anyway at it has been fine).

Just tried a normal Audio CD in the drive and that works fine, So seems to be just Football Manager. Weird.

I was told when I bought it at Gamestation that I couldn't return it to them for any reason at all due to the online registration but there is a number to call if it's fault so i'll have to phone them or something, I don't understand why it is just this disk though, It was working absolutely fine yesterday morning, yesterday afternoon it goes dodgy, No-one would have touched my laptop because my mum doesn't know how to use one and there is no-one else, and I don't understand why it is just this disk.

It's warped.

The Football Manager disk?

I've just tried calling them but it just kept cutting my off, but they did suggest e-mail the support team which I have done. They will "get back to me shortly".

Hopefully it's just a case of swapping it at a shop rather than having to wait through the post, Because I can combine picking it up with Christmas shopping (Which I desperately need to start) and i'm a few game short of the end of my first season and would like to finish it, now.

The Football Manager disk?

Well I don't mean the computer.

They can quite easily tell you to sod off if you have warped the disk, as it previously played and other disks play fine then it is you who has done something to the disk to warp it.

I did that to my disk two FM's ago - and by "I" I mean my wife put it on top of a radiator.

I dont use the disk to play fm09. :dunno:

Did you install it using Steam?

Yeah I think so, I have all the Steam stuff on my laptop after installing it so guess so. Does that mean there is no need for the disk now :giggle:

Didn't know that, I'll have to see if it works.

I've got a Phillips X58 Freevent Laptop with 2GBs of memory. I've been told I can upgrade to a further 4GBs over two slots but that I'd need to change from 32 bit to 64 bit if I go above 3GBs.

Questions:

What affect does using the 64 bit have on my pc?

Will it affect/be compatible with my existing software?

Is there a cost attached and where do I get it from?

Finally anyone know of a good inexpensive provider of memory other than Crucial who I have dealt with so far who are quoting £17.24 for 2GBs.

Thanks

I wouldn't bother going to 4gb yet. Just put another 1gb in if you want a boost.

Not worth going to 4gb if you'd have to change to 64bit (and you're not already on it). Just go to 3gb
