Stuliasz Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 City's Spine Shows Backbone Against £350m Chelseahttp://lcfcratings.wordpress.com Leicester may have come away from Stamford Bridge with no points, but there was no shortage of pride from the fans towards the team's performance, with the highest of the ratings provided to the central players. Kasper Schmeichel took the man of the match award as voted for by 250+ fans following an excellent goalkeeping display, superbly keeping out efforts from Branislav Ivanović and new signing Cesc Fàbregas, with solid performances from both Wes Morgan and Liam Moore in front of him once again. However the centre backs were beaten into second and third place by the midfield pairing of Andy King and Dean Hammond, who were more than a match for Chelsea's superstars for the majority of the game, with boss Nigel Pearson earmarking Hammond's departure through severe cramp as a pivotal moment in the defeat. David Nugent was voted as City's worst player, not helped by his spurning of a glorious chance at 0-0 when put clean through by Riyad Mahrez only to be foiled by recalled Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois. Nugent's strike partner Leonardo Ulloa did not do much to impress the voting fans, and also made the bottom three. Meanwhile Gary Taylor-Fletcher's brief appearance out of position in central midfield did not at all impress the travelling faithful, and he was only saved from being given the worst player award due to his lack of minutes on the pitch compared to Nugent. League favourites Chelsea were only voted as 'good' opposition, which would have certainly been lower had their second half performance not been such a vast improvement on the first. The officials led by referee Lee Mason, received a similarly good rating, something which may turn out to be a rarity as the season continues. Negativity towards manager Nigel Pearson is still at a minimum, with a near 100% approval rating once again. ousefox Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Hadn't read a lot about the officials. Thought they had a very good game. Cheers for this too - always makes a good read.
Raw Dykes Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 I've got to say, I love this. It's an excellent way of recording player ratings. I look forward to seeing this each match. Keep up the great work!
Fox92 Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Thought the officials were generally one sided towards Chelsea. Anything they appealed for, they got. But I guess it'll be the same when we visit Manchester United and Manchester City. Thought Kasper, Moore, Morgan, King and Hammond were impressive. Bit harsh on Ulloa as he was working up top alone really. Not surprised about Nugent's rating, he should have scored.
TOMBlcfc Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Harsh on Ulloa but can't really complain about the other results Edit: Actually around 6 isn't too bad a score but i don't think he should be in the bottom 3
LanguedocFox Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 Can we have less of the Flop of the Match, please? It's a team game, and I don't particularly care for the idea of a Man of the Match. But castigating our own players - especially strikers like Nugent and Ulloa, is an asshole thing to do.

But castigating our own players - especially strikers like Nugent and Ulloa, is an asshole thing to do. Appreciate the "asshole" comment but it's only a light hearted way of presenting how people have voted so I wouldn't take it too seriously. The "award" is just an easy way to present who has been the worst player in a particular match, and further down the line who has been the worst player most often over a month or over the season. However if others agree with you, I'll keep it just as 'Worst Players' rather than flop. Personally I'm an optimistic guy and I don't like to see players castigated but I don't see why it should be ignored if they are the worst players in the team.
Captain... Posted 25 August 2014 Posted 25 August 2014 The thing with flop of the match is that someone could actually play well and be dubbed flop of the match despite having a solid game just because everyone else was better. If everyone is getting 7.5-8 and one person gets a rating of 7 then they aren't a flop. I think you should highlight those that put in an unacceptable performance anyone getting less than 5 clearly had a bad game. From a graphical analysis pov you could colour code the names so you can easily see who stood out, so an 8+ is in blue and 5 or less is in red. Depending on how much time you want to faff around with presenting the data. You could also show their season average rating next to their rating to see if they played better than usual or worse. Also I'm intrigued by the sub appearances how are their scores modified? Good work on the analysis a great read,

jmono84 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I like the idea of having a seasonal average rating to view
FourtyFour Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 This is very much off topic but I have to say I was appalled to hear racist remarks from leicester supporters at Stamford bridge on Saturday. I never thought I'd hear that sort of language from leicester supporters
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Never rated Lee Mason but he had a decent game Saturday Motm was always going to be Kasper or King
