Guest MattP Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 I was waiting for MattP's reply (Though I do agree). I'm actually baffled by how many of our fans actually seem to rate him, I have no idea what they are blinded by. It would be impossible to have a stable defence with him in it, I was laughing my tits off watching him at the World Cup.

He was good enough for the championship although he'd have been fourth choice for us last year (at best) and no way near as bad as people make out. But I'd agree he's an odd choice for a Serie A club. I maintain he was ****ing hilariously entertaining though.
Corky Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 He was good value at times, remember CMS for Brighton chasing him full tilt to close down near the byline once and Sol nonchantly backheeling it past him and strolling away. But then you had games like the one at Reading where he was done several times by being dragged out wide and outpaced and outthought.
ale9357 Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 I'd rather not go to Naples, I like not being stabbed. I can get down with cannoli. Nice idea! Cannoli are wonderful! Si un fangu. At least tell them it's beef spleen and intestines before you encourage them to eat it. That's the point! If I tell him what a stigghiola is,I ruin his surprise P.S. A 'ttia e a c'un tu rici puru! In terms of positioning, intelligence and anticipation, probably the worst defender I've seen. If you have any decent defenders they will look terrible while he is with you, the other centre back will have to change his marker every couple of minutes and (depending which side of the centre back pairing he is) the full back will look appalling as he will be stuck doing a centre halves job on pretty much every counter attack you face. Well the point is that we have only one decent centre back so i think that with Bamba we'll suffer very much during the season: this player has a good build but as you and the others said, he's not quite good when it's about tactics, concentration and intelligence: the main qualities that every decent defender should have, even in Serie A! A Tournament where defense has a lot of importance... I think it will be hard for us to avoid relegation! Anyway, thanks all for the answers! MC Prussian Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Hey Alessandro, Sol Bamba can be a very entertaining player. Thing is, he doesn't know what he wants a lot of the time - play as a defender or a midfielder? He is also quite erratic at times, makes wrong judgements when tracking attackers and isn't the best in terms of skills, his first touch and ball control is/was always a bit flawed. However, you'll get a dedicated and energetic player who is great to watch and who thrives on atmosphere and who can make the difference on a good day. Just take a look at his goal for us in the cup against Manchester City a few years back: (9 seconds in) In bocca al lupo e saluti a Palermo!
Filbert_Ross Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Cosa Nostra will have a bullet for him after a few games.
