ale9357 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Hi Guys I'm in Italian fan of US Palermo, the club that bought on transfer former Leicester City player Sol Bamba... I never heard about him and until now,i didn't know him... So I'm here to ask you some infos about this player: Ok,we're not talking about a Champ or a Top Player, but what about his defensive skill??? he's like an Egypt Plague,or he is a decent defender that gets his job done almost every Match??? I know that played also for Trabzonspor but i can't speak Turkish and I don't understand it,so here I am waiting for your answers Thanks for your attention!
Finnegan Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 He's absolutely brilliant entertainment. One of my favourite players when he was here, you'll never be bored when he's playing. He's not amazing, an Italian top flight side would probably want a more solid defender but he's quite good on the ball. Problem is he likes to go on runs up the pitch and forget about defending. Bit of a liability. Ps: fancy selling us La Joya?

He's capable and technically good - tends to drift out of position - i.e. too far forwards and has a habit of doing too much with the ball in the wrong areas rather than hoofing clear when sometimes a good old hoof is the best option. He gets away with it most of the time but he must be difficult to have as a defensive partner as he is a bit unpredictable. Apparently he's a good influence off the pitch with a likeable personality - a bit of a character from what i've read.
Fox92 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Not a good defender. Which is a shame considering he's supposed to be a defender.
BrummieFOX Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 'Bombscare' perfectly sums him up for me. You're better off asking Cliff Genetta though.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Good player. Makes sometimes big mistake and can lose his concentration which can cost some goals. But he's good, most of the time.
ale9357 Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 Mother of God... That nick,Bombscare, is not encouraging at all and the most of you agrees that he's an average player with lack of concentration... I only hope that our Coach will not put him in the Starting 11 or we can say GoodBye to Serie A: We haven't a good team at all, with this kind of defenders it could only be worse... BTW I like that he has a good personality off the pitch... Anyway thx for the answers mates! Really like this Forum! Ps: fancy selling us La Joya?Well,Mate... La Joya is not good as TV says: yes he has some nice skills, but he suffers lack of concentration during the match and he's often injured... I'm not sure that Hull did a good deal... They are about to pay us 12million Euro for him... Insanely overpriced! Inviato dal mio GT-S7500 con Tapatalk 2
Finnegan Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Stick around if you like. We'll get a few pink and blue scarves and a friendship enamel badge made. We'll even send over Vol Blau to learn a few songs from your Ultras. #fanfriendship (jokes aside, I'd love a trip to Palermo to eat pizza and watch Sol Bamba)
Bamba's Babes Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Nonsense, Sol never loses an arial battle and is a joy to watch. Yes he'll make mistakes but you'll have fun together.
bovril Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Had a season ticket at Palermo for a year. Funny that Bamba's rocked up there. Can't imagine him in a pink and black shirt.
ale9357 Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 Ahahah ok ok i think it's a good idea to make a fan friendship Well in Palermo you have to eat Arancine,Cassata,Cannoli,Sfincione,Stigghiuala,Pane ca Meusa and so on... Pizza is good too but is not in Sicilian Tradition... If you want pizza you'd better go to Naples Inviato dal mio GT-S7500 con Tapatalk 2

I can get down with cannoli.

Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Wouldn't trust him to hold me pint, personally.
Guest Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 he was a good defender no matter what the others say. Wonderful player. You'll love him.

Guest MattP Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 In terms of positioning, intelligence and anticipation, probably the worst defender I've seen. If you have any decent defenders they will look terrible while he is with you, the other centre back will have to change his marker every couple of minutes and (depending which side of the centre back pairing he is) the full back will look appalling as he will be stuck doing a centre halves job on pretty much every counter attack you face. He's failed here and in Turkey, it's baffling to understand why a decent Italian side would touch him. Sorry. Plus points; he often does a bit of (albeit pointless) skill that entertains a few fans.
Fox92 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 I was waiting for MattP's reply (Though I do agree).
