copunk Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 am I the only one who has lost all interest in the international break? haven't cared for it in a long time now and I dread every time it comes round, pointless friendlies, non of the excitement or the buzz you get from normal league matchdays, just seems like a lot of people genuinely don't give a toss if England play anymore apart from in big tournaments
Stadt Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 I hope this apathy towards England makes the FA take some sort of action
Larry_LCFC Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 I think the break we seem to have at the start of every season is ridiculous. Just as you really get into enjoying the new season, we have to endure a pointless fortnight gap. Not as if we're treated to any decent international football from England either.

England play Monday night! I know sky move a ton of league games about, but the vast majority of football is played Saturday and Sunday in this country, it's what football lovers look forward too. You work all week, look forward to some weekend football, either actually at the game or on tv, and there isn't any. People might have more interest if it was tomorrow or Sunday, when they could go pub and watch it with a few mates and enjoy a few beers.
The Blur Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 I hope this apathy towards England makes the FA take some sort of action What can FA do to eliminate this apathy overnight? Sack Roy? I doubt any managers can improve England significantly and it also will take ages to change the whole set up's mentality so for now there is not much they can do apart from start to putting things in place for the future.

Jam Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 The general disenchantment with the National side has been around to varying degrees over the past 6 or so years, it's just come to the forefront after a hugely dissapointing tournament. I personally always find international football exciting and a nice change of pace from the usual domestic leagues and cup competitions. However even I'm feeling slightly disinterested.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 I always forget how painful this first international break is. It already feels like about 2 months since we played Arsenal.
The Blur Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Their attitude, reduce Wembley ticket prices, better appointments at youth level and just be brave with a decision for once. I thought of that as well but I am not sure if it will make a significant difference.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Or if they're not going to even half sell-out, play some of the friendlies at different venues?
zak_lcfc Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Or if they're not going to even half sell-out, play some of the friendlies at different venues? I agree with this, I recently read but can't remember where that other national teams play at different venues around the country I think Italy and Spain were used as the main examples (correct me if I happen to be wrong on this though) only the biggest stadiums in England would look relatively empty with a 40,000 strong crowd and allows people from all over to watch the team play!

We have to pay off the £757 million debt that wembley cost, so for the next 8 years all games will be at Wembley. It's never about the football when it comes to the FA.
stevelcfc Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 I have no interest in International football and haven't have for years, would not be at all bothered if we just jacked it in.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Problem is the England team is so poor at the moment, watching them reminds me of LCFC 2004-2008! International football can be great, look at the World Cup, but Platini has ruined the Euros now by making it almost impossible not to qualify, and at the tournament itself it will be hard not to make it to the knockout stages. Could do with another Germany 1 England 5!
