mrgarrison16 Posted 6 October 2014 Posted 6 October 2014 They weren't St. John's, they were full on paramedics; also they would've been told go straight across by the staff doctor to, they're not exactly gonna go '**** that the match is still going' are they
Carl the Llama Posted 6 October 2014 Posted 6 October 2014 I can only presume you read about one post in the thread then and not all the others. Actually I'm reading posts like yours which call it gamesmanship and the like, and pointing out that it's a moot point. They're losing a key player and we should be able to see out the result. Nothing he 'did' should have affected our performance or our ability to deal with theirs, if it did it's our players we should be worrying about. Not that I'm saying we should all go blame Nugent.
Larry_LCFC Posted 6 October 2014 Posted 6 October 2014 Whilst Trippier's injury was frustrating I was more annoyed and embarrassed by one of our own players. Mahrez in the first half, went down like he'd been shot, could have caused more injury to himself with the pathetic rolling around he did. Then within 10 seconds he was back on his feet. Our own player or not I hate seeing footballers do that and hopefully Pearson has a word with him about that sort of behaviour. Completely this. I couldn't help but cringe, especially when he shot back up and ran off. Looked like he had been AK47'ed the way he went down. Embarrassing and totally not acceptable.

Looked like he had been AK47'ed the way he went down. Embarrassing and totally not acceptable. Leave it out. Players take tumbles and roll around all the time. What's Nige supposed to do? Pull him up in training and say 'Oi Riyad, there were 2 rolls too many that time you got fouled last game. I only want you to roll once'. If anything he may have been trying to kill a few seconds. It's nothing Players will try and get the referee to believe it was a severe foul. So it could have an affect on how the ref sees the next incident involving the player who made the foul. It was a foul. He can be as theatrical as he wants as long as the referee judges the foul/tackle itself.

Or referees will see that back and next time they are reffing a game he's involved in might not give a decision our way even if it is a genuine foul.
EnglishOxide Posted 7 October 2014 Posted 7 October 2014 Well that would make the referee bent. Nothing to do with the player. He can roll around after a tackle as many times as he likes as long as he continues to be a productive player. If it becomes counter productive then by all means have a go at him.
Dan Posted 7 October 2014 Posted 7 October 2014 Isn't it annoying the amount of pathetic moral highground taking nobheads that exist nowadays. They just can't wait to throw in some criticism which isn't even justified and for what? I'm on about those who think we booed Trippier for being injured - yes I'm sure it was because he was injured and absolutely nothing to do with the fact he could've been moved a monumental five yards off the pitch, preventing a stupid amount of time added on.

It's not even like diving where you actually gain anything from it. It's not about wasting time, it was about them not being down to 10 men for a minute or so while they got a sub ready. Nobody is suggesting he was playing for time. He was doing what any good pro would do and staying on the pitch so as not to leave his team down to 10 men. Bloody infuriating to watch, but no different to what I'd want our player to do. Can the ref not intervene? It's the ref I was annoyed at rather than Trippier/the medical team.

It was the kind of thing we'd have a huge go at the opposition for doing it. I doubt Pearson was very impressed.

There is taking a tumble and then there is rolling around like a pillock trying to get an opposition player booked/sent off deliberately. You can try and justify it until the cows come home, the fact remains it looks embarrassing. Not something I want to see in the english game thanks.

And where exactly did I say it had anything to do with us losing? Or it affected our performance? I said it was frustrating, which from what I can see so has everyone else. In fact I can't see a single comment stating it as being a reason for us to not win the game.

If nobody thinks it affected the outcome of the game then why are they getting frustrated by it, and why are you calling it gamesmanship? Your new argument basically amounts to saying that the only reason you're complaining about the amount of time given to a player's injury is because the wait made you a bit restless. Does that seem like a rational response to a potential injury?
ElsieLC Posted 7 October 2014 Posted 7 October 2014 Whatever the incident Trippier was down and looked very distressed immediately. He gave the manager the sign to get him subbed/seen to asap. Not any gamesmanship there, indeed the opposite. I did think that he should have had some more immediate treatment though. Hope the lad is ok. Ashamed at the jeering from us...

Does that seem like a rational response to a potential injury? Why did I get frustrated, because I just wanted to get on with the bloody game and at that moment I knew it could potentially have benefited us if he was off the pitch. But he wasn't and that's their prerogative, just because I found it frustrating at the time doesn't mean I'm accusing him of gamesmanship (a word I never used) or that I believe it was key in the outcome. Rather than trying to twist your own perspective into other peoples words, just read what's been said. At no points did I blame that incident in any way shape or form on the outcome of the game. If I'm going to pick any isolated incident I'd blame Nugent for not running the ball into the corner and just kicking it to nobody in the box, which launched their attack.
fuchsntf Posted 8 October 2014 Posted 8 October 2014 Why oh Why didnt the St Johns medics eake him off the pitch instead of walking straight across the pitch doesnt make sense when he was only just near the touchline. P.s hope it isnt too serious because he is a cracking player fear , NO PIES available especially after 7 minutes extra time.Fans on the rim were looking out for any Road kill.
