chris_lcfc_85 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 I have just noticed Stringers tweet from earlier...... #LCFC have used as many players, 23, in The Premier League this season as they did in 46 games in The Championship last term - 23 Thats not good after just 10 games!

Yes he needs a bigger squad etc but thats too many alterations after 10 games

Do you know how many we'd used after 10 games last season.... 20. One of the extra players used this year was Hamer because Kasper missed his first game in several years. So, we've used two players more than we used this time last season.

Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Number of players used is not any indicator of success, we have a bigger squad and more options than last season, and is a ridiculous stick to beat the management with. Incidentally, after 10 games last season we had used 20 different players, and by this point in the season (November) we had used 21, (basically the whole squad) Mahrez and Phillips being the other 2, who we signed in January.

ScouseFox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 we need to stick with a formation and a team as much as we can. obviously we can change a few personnel or tweak a formation to change from attacking (remember attacking nigel?) a lesser team at home and then trying to keep it a bit tighter away at man city or whatever, but as much as possible we need to find an XI and play them most weeks. if that means nugent isn't in the team then fine. if that means king will spend more time on the bench than the pitch then deal with it. if it means matty james has to wait for cambiasso to get tired (or vice versa) before being able to prove himself then that's what's got to happen. we can't change 4 or 5 players and the formation every single game. i don't get why we aren't. last season we found the formula of 4-4-2, drinky and james, king was a fans favourite, a loyal servant and a very good player but once we started winning with him on the bench he stayed there. many thought wood would be our main man but we were winning with nugent and vardy so wood wasn't involved. it even took an injury to dyer before mahrez could shine, despite nigel seemingly seeing him as a sensational signing. tbf we haven't found a winning formula yet because this league is harder, but we've got to find something good and stick with it instead of choosing something, it losing and going back to square one.

You got there first though and will take all the credit... At least I was being paid to do it, amazing to think we started last season with Whitbread and SSL.

Ha ha yeah I'd blocked out that back 3 experiment with them in the team... in fact last season reflects this season a bit really. Pearson will soon realise he can't do these fancy foreign muck formations and just go 4-4-2 with two wingers and we'll win the league.

I dont think it helps that when we do play 3 in CM, they are all too similar. King will possibly break forward more and Hammond prob sit back more but generally all similar. I think we need something different
