surrifox Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 I think we will stay up because stubborn as he undoubtedly is I think NP has the ability to turn this around and I hope he does as I would hate to have the likes of Pulis as the knee jerk alternative. At the beginning of the season I thought that we should stay with NP even if we were relegated as I felt that he is pragmatic enough to learn from his mistakes and was best placed to bring us back up . Chopping and changing like Cardiff, Fulham , Leeds et al will never be the right formula for success So: no more of this falling out with squad members and preferment of "good in training" players. no more public criticism of players and mardy interviews - best to say nothing check that the striker coach , KP hasn't in fact left the club some time ago and there is no-one around to explain the concept of putting the ball into the opposition's net no more crappy playing formations unsuited to the players we have
marbelladave Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 Greetings from Andalucia. I have managed to watch our last 3 or 4 games, on TV or computer, and what I am seeing reminds me of what happened during the second half of of the 2012/13 season. We got into a poor, defensive style of play which didn't work for us but then instead of changing completely and trying to be more attacking we simply kept looking at ways to secure and 'improve' our defensive play. What happened on saturday is a direct result of that, a back 4 playing deep, a midfield 3, sometimes 4 playing right back on their toes and strikers isolated up front. Playing like that got us a handful of points in about 20 games, and that was in the championship, we'll get nothing in this league.
AyewJoking Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 I havent changed my mind but then again I predicted relegation before the season started. We won the Championship comfortably and even though NP isn't the type to throw money around, expected one or two big money deals and at least 3 or 4 additions to bring strength in depth and most importantly, quality. Don't ask me who we should have signed because I don't know, its not my job. Whatever underlying problems are behind this lousy run of games, no one in our team is good enough to change a game. Unless a big improvement is made between now and Christmas, surely NP will be out for a manager who can buy the players we need in January. Ps, I know NP made a big money tranfer in signing Ullola but thats only because he is stubborn and this time we had the funds to play over the odds.
WardyisPukka Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 Most of us thought we'd stay up after the Utd game. I was positive and believed there were 3 worse teams than us before the start of season (sunderland, burnley and qpr) However these last 5 games have exposed our lack of depth in the squad and pearson's obsession was a diamond formation. Konch and De laet im afraid are not good enough at this level and never will be - i still can't believe we didn't address left hand side situation in the summer as i believed we needed to replace dyer in case of an injury to konch or jeff - that's just mis management from either Pearson or Terry Robinson We are far too reliant on Ulloa for goals and on saturday he couldnt control the ball let alone create a chance. I'm afraid Nigels obsession with a diamond is going to cost us our place in this division - either he addresses it now and we go back to 442 and the basics and try improve our basic play I do feel though that the Thais are so desperate to stay in this division that theyll sack Nigel for the sake of the club theres no loyalty in football
Guest MattP Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 Still think we'll just do enough to survive. Convinced the quality is there to keep us in it until January and then we can go out and buy a couple of players. I'll be very worried though if we don't win one of the next two games.
Socks Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 If we lose to QPR i think it will change everything Our tactics/style/formation has to change and quick otherwise once were 6 or 7 points behind i think it will be too much to get back form in this league
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 People have changed their minds because of perceptions. Earlier in the season we lost to Chelsea away from home by 2 goals, having contained them for all but the last 20 mins. Which was taken as a good result by fans. Then we beat Man Utd and therefore losing away from home by 2 goals to the next best team in the league currently, having contained them for all but the last 20 mins, just isn't acceptable? I really don't think much has changed, I still have faith.

I really don't think much has changed, I still have faith. we had a chance to score vs chelsea, nugent missed one we should've gone into the lead. we haven't looked like scoring a goal or taking a lead, let alone winning a game for over a month. at chelsea we went toe to toe with them, played wingers, two up front and gave it a go. sure we defended more than we attacked as you'd expect but we were giving them a game. that's massively different than going to southampton and setting up in a system that effectively says "we hope you don't score, if you do well done though have 3 points because there's no chance in shit we're going to score".
Lasty Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 We have good enough players to stay up with something to spare, but that's if they're used properly. This silly, negative diamond effort is stifling all the ability though. If Pearson persists with it, we will go down.
cjslcfc Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 Still think we will stay up. Perhaps not as confident as I was but I back this team, these players and the manager to get us out of it. Even if it means a couple of genuine quality additions are needed in January.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 We're still 2/1 to get relegated. So the majority should just lump on.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 This. Pearson is currently doing our oppositions manager's job for them, by playing tactics that utterly stifle and negate our strengths.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 Unless his brain begins to grow back, we are done for
