Grewks Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 Just like many of the players, it is Pearson's first season at this level aswell. He is still learning, like all of our players. It is a shame the only people not learning this season, or over the last decade are our fans. Getting rid of pearson worked out so well for us the first time didn't it? He didn't leave for Hull, he was pushed. Sousa was lined up for his job, and he knew about it, and quite rightly left due to the embarassing way our club went about it. One thing pearson has done every season with us is improve the club, both on and off the pitch. The way in which he managed to offload Danns, Beckford and Mills to a single club deserved a life-long club ambassador role itself. Transfer Record Pearson has transfer record which matches that of any other manager in the game, Knockaert, mahrez, vardy, morgan, james, drinkwater, de laet etc have all contributed positively. Hull, an established premier league side, despite turning over a huge amount of playing staff since Bruce's arrival, still have Chester, Brady and Rosenior as mainstays in their Squads. Youth Another issue i have seen on here in the past, is members raising concern over how our youth players are 'not making it'. But since Pearson has been here King, Moore and Sclupp have both been handed a very successful career for players of their age. He has also continued to assure that our future is bright. Recruiting Lawrence in the summer, as well as other youngsters such as barmby and davis. Drinkwater, de laet and james in the past are just other examples. I too am frustrated so far this season. Watching the games between ourselves and sunderland/burnley/west brom there has been nothing between us. But Pearson has been building a project here, a very successful one. Young talented players are held down to long term contracts, finances are as sound as they have been since...well....ever. I'm not going to use the 'Rome wasn't built in a day' cliche. But after such a long time being away from the premier league, and being so so far away season after season, i cannot believe how impatient we are. If we go down this season, we are again in a better position than we were at the start of this season. With all young and key players tied down to new contracts, additional youngster additions with the likes of lawrence, more minutes at the highest level of football for the likes of mahrez, james, de laet, moore, schlupp etc... Sacking Pearson and the being relegated again would be a disaster. The meltdown at Wolves would never of happened if Mccarthy has stayed, they would still have been relegated, but they would of bounced back quicker. This season isn't a 'shit or bust' year, we are as secure as we have ever been as a club. Everyone will learn from their the mistakes....Pearson will realize what has been lacking, the owners will realize more financial backing is likely to be required and the players will realize just what level they will need to be at to compete. The future is as bright as it has ever been.

Kasper, with his wage, i'm not worried about losing.... He would be the one out of 11 who started today that i would least care about losing, given hamer is great at championship level. Mahrez, as long as the offer is crazy then he can go. I don't want him to and we don't need the cash either.

StanSP Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 I'd be less bothered about losing Kasper if we had adequate back-up. People cling on to Hamer's clean sheet at Stoke but in friendlies he wasn't great and why do people think he'll be better than Kasper anyway?

Our squad is the youngest of any premier league squad we have had, and despite lacking in quality compared to the izzet/elliot/heskey era, we certainly have more players with more potential. Wolves, Derby, Boro, Blackburn, Cardiff, Charlton, Reading, Leeds, Fulham, Birmingham, Bolton, Wigan, Watford and Blackpool....Every side which has sacked their manager either during or after their relegation season, some going through multiple managers....none have benefited...so it certainly suggests that sacking the manager of a relegated side isn't successful. QPR - Didn't sack Redknapp - Got Promoted.

This club should still exist in 100 years time, so i fail to see why we are so desperate to stay in this league next season, given we are in such a positive place as a club anyway. We do not need to stay in the premier league. IT would be a luxury, not a necessity.

If a club needed to be in the premier league to survive....there wouldn't be dozens of leagues below us. The owners need it less than every one else at the club...unless you're their accountant? You don't expect the club to be here in a 100 years time?
LcFc_Smiv Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 Honestly don't think going down and building upon what we have would be a bad thing, obviously staying up is a much better option, but it would be much safer for our club to not invest massively in an attempt to stay up. The most important thing is keeping the books balanced and just adding to what we have, we're a club with a good base, we're an attractive option compared to those clubs of a similar size of us. Break the trend Leicester, back the manager, and just give it time, just because we're in the premier league doesn't mean we've reached our destination, it's a long journey.

The owners need it less than every one else at the club...unless you're their accountant? You don't expect the club to be here in a 100 years time? But we just got here (prem)

One point off of 17th with just over a third of the season played, not been dominated by any team other than Swansea. We're not in great form no one can argue that, we have played better, but we haven't fell far behind, we don't look completely incompetent as many of those who are tightening the noose are making out.

Where did i try and 'put a positive spin on it'? I never said the fact we are in the bottom 3 is a positive at all. But the club is as financially as strong as it has ever been, we have never had a squad as young with as much potential as we do now....These are facts not 'positive spins'. Only 20 clubs out of the thousands in England/Wales can compete at this level, let's just be thankful we are one of those.
